Overview
We are seeking a dynamic, organized, and adaptable individual to help lead our pick, pack, and ship operations. This is a hands-on supervisory role in a fast-paced environment with a diverse workforce and specialized customer requirements.
As the assembly supervisor, you will work closely with team members to ensure plant products are properly upgraded, packed, boxed, and palletized for shipment. You will also coordinate with the logistics and sales desk staff to establish shipping priorities and confirm delivery requirements. Success in this role requires flexibility, a positive attitude, and the ability to keep the team focused on meeting changing customer needs and delivery timelines.
Main Responsibilities
- Organize and manage each day’s inflow and outflow of product based on customer orders.
- Supervise the picking and upgrading of plant products to meet customer-specific purchase orders.
- Verify that packed product is palletized properly and ready for shipment.
- Supervise loading/unloading schedule and communicate deviations for both the local and US orders.
- Assist with loading and off-loading of trailers and/or warehouse transfers.
- Review and approve shipping documentation such as bills of lading and customs documentation.
- Assist in improving existing operations by creating standard operating procedures.
- Identify, record, and track data from daily operations that can be used to gauge performance.
- When required, operate forklift/lift truck to move goods.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills
- Proficiency with cloud-based ERP systems, and Microsoft Office 365 products.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot assembly equipment and processes.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and manage workflow efficiently.
- Strong organizational skills in both time management and information processing.
- Effective communication skills for a multicultural workforce, coordinating across departments and training staff.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 to 5 years warehouse packing and shipping experience in a leadership role.
- Post-secondary education - supply chain management, logistics, operations management or related discipline and/or equivalent job experience with supplemental education in warehouse management/supply chain.
- CI experience; expectation to learn and implement new processes to improve flow.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform sustained physical activity including walking, standing, bending and crouching.
- Ability to lift, push/pull up to 23 kgs (50 lbs) as required.
- Comfortable working in hot, humid greenhouse/warehouse conditions for extended periods.
Other Requirements
- Personal transportation (operation not serviced by public transit).
- At least 2 years of forklift experience, required; i.e. narrow aisle is an asset.
- Farm tractor experience, or willing to be trained.
Work Schedule
- Job type: full-time, permanent.
- Schedule: 40.0 to 42.5 hrs per week; Monday to Friday - 8:00 am to 4:30 pm or 5:00 pm. A 30-minute unpaid lunch break, and two (2) 15-minute paid breaks (mid-morning & mid-afternoon).
- Must be willing to work additional hours during peak season (Nov-Dec; Feb-May), including some weekends and statutory holidays.

Compensation
- Wage rate: $26 per hour, negotiable, rate dependent upon experience and education
- Vacation entitlement: as per minimum standards of Ontario ESA 2000.
