Coast Spas Manufacturing Ltd. is seeking a hands-on, results-oriented Finance Manager to lead the Company's financial reporting, cash flow management, banking relationships, and management reporting functions. This is a highly operational role that requires a strong understanding of manufacturing finance, standard costing, inventory management, and financial controls.
Reporting directly to the President & CEO, the Finance Manager will be responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of monthly financial statements, management reports, cash flow forecasts, lender reporting, and financial analysis for both the manufacturing business and retail showroom operations.
The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess strong technical accounting and financial management skills, and have prior experience supporting a business undergoing turnaround, restructuring, recovery, or significant performance improvement initiatives.
This is a "roll up your sleeves" position requiring active involvement in the day-to-day financial operations of the business rather than a purely supervisory role.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a practical ability to leverage technology, ERP systems, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to improve reporting accuracy, increase productivity, automate routine processes, and support better business decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Month-End Close
- Lead and actively participate in the monthly close process.
- Prepare and produce accurate monthly Profit & Loss Statements, Balance Sheets, and supporting schedules.
- Ensure all reconciliations are completed accurately and on a timely basis.
- Analyze monthly financial results and provide commentary on key variances versus budget, forecast, and prior year.
- Maintain and improve month-end reporting processes and controls.
Management Reporting
- Prepare monthly management reporting packages for the President & CEO and leadership team.
- Develop meaningful KPIs and financial metrics to support business performance.
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support operational and strategic decision-making.
- Assist with annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes.
Cash Flow & Banking Reporting
- Prepare and maintain weekly and monthly cash flow forecasts.
- Monitor working capital, inventory, receivables, payables, and liquidity requirements.
- Prepare lender reporting packages and covenant calculations.
- Manage banking relationships and ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve cash flow and working capital efficiency.
Manufacturing Finance & Cost Accounting
- Maintain and oversee standard costing systems for manufacturing operations.
- Analyze product costs, labour efficiencies, material variances, and manufacturing overhead absorption.
- Work closely with Operations and Supply Chain teams to improve cost visibility and profitability.
- Support inventory management, cycle count programs, and year-end inventory valuations.
- Provide analysis and recommendations to improve manufacturing margins and operational performance.
Retail Showroom Financial Support
- Support financial reporting and performance analysis for Coast Spas Lifestyles retail operations.
- Monitor showroom profitability, margins, inventory performance, and operating expenses.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support retail performance improvements.
Leadership & Team Collaboration
- Work closely with the Administration and Accounting Manager in the preparation of monthly financial reporting.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support to accounting and administrative team members.
- Ensure strong financial controls, policies, and procedures are maintained throughout the organization.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across finance and administration functions.
Technology, AI & Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation, technology, and process improvements.
- Leverage AI tools to enhance financial analysis, reporting, forecasting, and productivity.
- Champion best practices in the use of technology to support financial planning and decision-making.
- Work with leadership to evaluate and implement tools that improve business performance and reporting capabilities.
Qualifications & Experience
- CPA designation required.
- Minimum 7–10 years of progressive finance and accounting experience.
- Strong experience in manufacturing finance and cost accounting.
- Practical, hands-on experience with standard costing systems and variance analysis.
- Experience preparing lender reporting and managing banking relationships.
- Proven experience in cash flow forecasting and working capital management.
- Experience working in a business undergoing turnaround, recovery, restructuring, or significant performance improvement initiatives is essential.
- Strong understanding of inventory accounting and manufacturing operations.
- Practical experience processing and managing payroll systems, ensuring compliance with payroll legislation and reporting requirements.
- Experience working with ERP systems in a manufacturing environment; SYSPRO ERP experience is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to improve productivity, automate routine tasks, enhance financial analysis, improve reporting quality, and support business decision-making.
- Proven track record of identifying and implementing process improvements through technology, automation, and best practices.
- Strong understanding of how AI and modern business tools can be applied within finance, accounting, reporting, forecasting, and operational processes.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Retail finance experience is considered an asset.
