Mine Equipment Operator – 6-Month Contract (Princeton, BC)
Reporting to the Mine Supervisor, the Mine Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of mobile equipment at our bentonite quarry near Princeton, BC, located approximately 20 minutes from downtown Princeton. This is a 6-month contract position with a starting wage of $36.18 per hour. Primary equipment includes a Hyundai HL780-7A wheel loader and a Volvo EC380DL excavator; prior experience operating this or comparable equipment is required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Ensures the efficient and safe operation of mining equipment and upholds safety as the #1 priority in the workplace.
2. Conducting pre trip safety inspections of mobile equipment and maintaining the logbook.
3. Abides by the Health, Safety, and Reclamation code for Mines in British Columbia.
4. Operation of the Hyundai HL780-7A wheel loader and Volvo EC380DL excavator for quarry production activities.
5. Assist Mine Supervisor with repairs as required.
6. Perform specific maintenance duties on equipment to help reduce downtime. (Greasing, and maintaining all fluid levels on the mobile equipment)
7. Maintains a clean workplace.
8. Ability to work independently and self-assign job tasks such as cleanup of work areas when needed.
9. Working in remote areas out of normal form of communication ranges.
10. Working in a variety extreme weather condition. Temperatures from -40 in the winter to +40 in the summer months. Heavy snow, rain, wind, drought, and thunderstorm conditions are present at these remote locations.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma
- Loader Certification
- Demonstrated experience operating a wheel loader (Hyundai HL780-7A or equivalent) – required
- Demonstrated experience operating excavators (Volvo EC380DL or equivalent) – required
- Intermediate First Aid certification is considered an asset
Skills and Abilities
- Proficient in lockout procedures when working on mobile equipment.
- Ability to work safely unsupervised and able to conduct daily risk assessments of their work area.
- Mechanical aptitude to conduct minor repairs and preventive maintenance on mobile equipment.
- Heavy physical lifting over 40lbs required.
- Proficiency in reading and writing to process documentation.
- Able to study, and abide by the Health, Safety and Reclamation code for Mines in British Columbia
Working Conditions
- Outside work in all weather conditions
- Dayshift. Shifts are 10 hours per day.
- Potentially dusty work areas
- Personal Protective Equipment must be worn, such as high visibility vest, hard hat, and respirator in some areas.
- Willingness to work overtime.
- Work site is our bentonite quarry, approximately 20 minutes from downtown Princeton, BC.
- Starting wage: $36.18 per hour.
