Assistant Manager - Community Programming

COMMENCING: As soon as can be arranged
COMPENSATION: Non-Union Salaried prorated over 10-month work period $65,000.00 annually
HOURS: 7.0 hours per day (10 months per year)
JOB SUMMARY:

The Program assistant will be responsible for organizing and planning ongoing community programs and support for adult
caregivers in the Louis Riel School Division with a focus on the schools located in the neighbourhoods of Old St. Vital and St.
Boniface. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively
with diverse stakeholders. A deep understanding of colonial history, experience working with indigenous families and
communities and knowledge and understanding of indigenous pedagogy is essential.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

As the Assistant Manager – Community Programming, your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

Relationship Building;
Program Planning, Recruitment & Implementation;
Communication;
Program Evaluation, Monitoring and Reporting;
Confidentiality and Security;
Food Security Initiatives;
Other Related Duties as Assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE):

Completion of post-secondary training or education in community development, event planning is required. An equivalent

combination of post-secondary education, training, and experience may be considered.

Current First Aid and CPR training.
Valid Manitoba Food Handlers Certificate is an asset.
Five (5) years’ experience in a similar position is preferred.
Experiencing leveraging volunteer support for programming.
Understanding of Truth and Reconciliation and how to implement it in community engagement.
Experience working with community groups, government and non-profit agencies and organizations.
Strong understanding of the public school system is preferred.
Demonstrated experience building meaningful relationships with Indigenous students, families, and communities grounded

in respect, reciprocity, and trust.

Deep understanding of the historical and ongoing impacts of colonization, and the ways these shape the experiences of

students, families, and communities today.

Proven ability to engage families and community partners as active participants in supporting student learning, well-being,

and success.

Strong communication and facilitation skills that support collaboration across school teams, community agencies, and

cultural partners.

Commitment to equity, inclusion, anti-racism and culturally responsive practices that honour diverse identities, lived

experiences, and ways of knowing.

Ability to work effectively as a team member as well as independently.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
High degree of initiative, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills

Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated experience in document and records management and applicable student information system software.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search.
Clear report from the Child Abuse Registry.
Review and comply with Divisional policies and guidelines.
Continued employment is subject to maintaining legal eligibility to work in Canada.
Valid Manitoba Driver’s License, current Driver’s Abstract, and access to a reliable vehicle
Will be required to work non-standard hours which would include evenings and weekends.
Respect In School or equivalent training is required.
