POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking a skilled Scale Room Operator to join our team. The Scale Room Operator will play a crucial role in accurately weighing incoming and outgoing shipments of soybeans, pulses and other specialty crops, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and maintaining detailed records of all transactions.
This position requires meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operate electronic scales to accurately weigh incoming and outgoing shipments of soybeans.
- Verify the identity of each load and ensure proper documentation is provided.
- Monitor equipment performance and promptly report any issues or malfunctions.
- Maintain detailed records of all incoming and outgoing shipments, including weight, origin, destination, and other relevant information.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies regarding documentation and record-keeping.
- Communicate effectively with truck drivers, elevator personnel, and other stakeholders to coordinate the timely and efficient handling of shipments.
- Collaborate with other departments to resolve any discrepancies or issues related to weighing operations.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
- Comply with relevant regulatory requirements, including those related to food safety, environmental protection, and workplace safety.
- Perform visual inspections of incoming soybean shipments to assess quality and identify any potential issues.
- Report any quality concerns to appropriate personnel and assist in implementing corrective actions as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior experience operating scales or similar equipment in an industrial or agricultural setting is highly desirable.
- Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to accurately record and analyze numerical data.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with a diverse range of individuals.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Comfort working in outdoor environments and exposure to various weather conditions.
- A willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
