The John Noble Home Day and Stay Program requires a Registered Practical Nurse

Part-Time regular shifts (44 hours bi-weekly)

JOHN NOBLE HOME BACKGROUND

The Day and Stay is a Community Program and has a proud and long-standing care-giving tradition. Today, we offer four quality programs devoted to seniors with memory issues and/or dementia. All meet and serve the needs of both Brant County and the City of Brantford and the surrounding region. We are a municipally operated and governed facility.

POSITION SUMMARY (detailed job description available upon request)

The Registered Practical Nurse shall provide professional care as a member of the inter-disciplinary team. The RPN is primarily responsible for the administration of medications and treatments, participation in the assessment and individualized care planning practice. The RPN works collaboratively with the Manager. The RPN will direct and supervise Program Assistants and other disciplines working in the Day and Stay. The RPN works in accordance with all the Policies and Procedures of the
Home. While performing any and all duties of the position the employee will work in a safe and healthy manner and will follow the regulations outlined in the Occupational

Health and Safety Act outlined in the organization Health & Safety Policy, Infection
Control and safe work procedures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (but not limited to):

Assumes responsibility for care of the clients in accordance with the Regulated Health Professionals.
Consult with the client and/or their SDM regarding wishes and needs for care.
Advocate and support the client and/or their SDM in achieving their care goals.
Administer medications and treatments in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Day and Stay.
Participate in the documentation and care planning process.
Provide direct care to the clients, (Assists in completing ADL’s) as required.
Provide feedback on all staff performance.
Complete the requirement of Quality Assurance and Reflective Practice as determined by the College of Nurses of Ontario.
Assist with the Quality Assurance Program by assuring quality practice and quality care. Monitoring indicators, identifying high risks and ongoing auditing is involved.
Report medication errors and complete Medication Incident Form.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS (but not limited to):

Registered with the College of Nurses Ontario (CNO).
Diploma in Practical Nursing
Geriatric experience is an asset.
Strong communication and leadership skills.

SALARY RANGE

Starting rate $33.85 per hour (based on a 37 ½ hour work week.) plus benefits, $3.00 PSS Wage Enhancement/direct care hour and OMERS pension.

As a condition of employment, candidates must submit a current Vulnerable Sector
Check (dated within the last 6 months) from their local police service before employment can begin. Applicants must also provide proof of a negative result from a 2-
Step TB Skin test (dated within 6 months) before employment can begin. Applicants may be required to participate in a skills assessment process.
