Job Description: Production Technician

Position Overview
Process Color is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Production Technician to join our growing production team. This role is responsible for operating and supporting various aspects of our wide-format print production environment, including print preparation, digital finishing, CNC routing, flatbed cutting, laminating, mounting, and quality control.
The ideal candidate will have experience working in a sign, graphics, print, or manufacturing environment and possess strong technical skills related to production software, cutting equipment, finishing techniques, and material handling. This individual will play a key role in ensuring projects are produced accurately, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesPrint Production & Equipment Operation
- Operate and monitor wide-format print production equipment and associated workflow software
- Prepare and process production files using RIP and print management software
- Review work orders and production specifications to ensure accurate job setup
- Monitor print quality and identify issues before they impact production schedules
Flatbed Cutting & CNC Routing
- Operate flatbed cutting equipment to produce finished graphics and signage components
- Set up and operate CNC routing equipment for cutting and shaping a variety of substrates including acrylic, ACM, PVC, coroplast, wood, and other rigid materials
- Load materials, select tooling, and perform machine setup and calibration
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of cutting equipment
Finishing & Assembly
- Perform laminating, mounting, trimming, contour cutting, weeding, grommeting, sewing, and other finishing processes
- Assemble signage, displays, dimensional graphics, and custom projects according to specifications
- Ensure all finished products meet quality and appearance standards before shipping or installation
Quality Control
- Conduct detailed inspections of printed and finished products
- Verify dimensions, colours, finishing specifications, and overall quality
- Identify and resolve production issues proactively
- Maintain consistency with Process Color's quality standards
Production Support & Collaboration
- Work closely with Project Managers, Customer Service Representatives, Designers, and Installers to meet project deadlines
- Assist with packaging, shipping preparation, and loading materials for installation crews
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the production department
Shop Organization & Safety
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Follow all company safety procedures and equipment operating guidelines
- Assist with inventory management and material organization
- Report equipment issues, safety concerns, or process improvement opportunities
Qualifications & ExperienceRequired
- 2+ years of experience in a print production, sign manufacturing, graphics, or related environment
- Experience operating flatbed cutting systems and/or CNC routing equipment
- Experience using print workflow, RIP, or production software
- Knowledge of wide-format printing materials, substrates, and finishing processes
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to read and interpret production work orders and specifications
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on your feet throughout the day
Preferred
- Experience with Caldera, ONYX, SAi Flexi, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar production software
- Experience operating Zünd, Esko, Kongsberg, Colex, Multicam, AXYZ, or similar cutting/routing equipment
- Knowledge of vinyl application, vehicle graphics, wall coverings, and display production
- Forklift certification or experience
