Katana is a remote-first, AI-first SaaS company building powerful inventory and manufacturing software for 1,500+ businesses that make and sell physical products around the world.
We've just stepped into an exciting new phase of expansion — moving from smaller merchants into a larger market of modern, multi-channel, multi-location businesses. With that growth comes bigger opportunities, more complex problems, and the chance to shape how we scale. Our 100+ person team across 10+ countries is building what's next — together.
And that's where you come in.
This is the rare role where you own the hardest problems outright and your work shows up at scale. Katana is taking on bigger, more complex customers than ever, and you'll be the person who gets their implementations live — then turns what works into the solutions, tooling, and playbooks the wider Solution Engineering team builds on. Work that sits right against revenue, and is unmistakably yours.
Impact at scale. High-value, complex accounts carry outsized revenue and reference value. You're the person who protects that revenue, and the solutions you build don't stop at one customer; they scale the whole team. This isn't quiet background work — it's revenue-enabling, and it's seen.
Real ownership. You own the hardest implementations end-to-end, and turn what works into the reusable solutions, tooling, and playbooks the rest of the team adopts. Scope, ownership, and a direct line of sight to revenue and product.
The interesting problems. Multi-system, multi-channel, multi-location merchants with genuine operational complexity — Shopify, WooCommerce, accounting, shipping, EDI, dirty data and multi-level BOMs — worked across a modern API and integration stack plus AI delivery tooling. Not cookie-cutter setups.
This isn't a role for someone who wants a bigger version of the job they already have. It's for the builder who wants their work to matter at scale — and to be seen for it — rather than write a spec for someone else to build. If you want to build something, not maintain something, this is the rare seat where you actually can.
This is the role for the person who makes our most complex customers successful.
As a Senior Implementation Engineer, you own the hands-on, end-to-end delivery of Katana for our highest-value and most technically demanding accounts — the multi-channel, multi-location merchants whose inventory and manufacturing operations are too intricate for a standard setup. From technical discovery and system architecture through integrations, data migration, configuration, and go-live — you are the person in the system making it work.
You are not advising from the sidelines. You build the integrations, map the workflows, migrate the data, and get customers live with confidence.
Inventory and manufacturing operations are in your DNA — you understand how real merchants move product, plan stock, and fulfil across channels — and you're equally at home in the systems that surround Katana: Shopify, WooCommerce, accounting, shipping, and EDI, connected through native connectors, APIs, and middleware.
And you're comfortable reaching for AI – you use tools like Claude to build working solutions, scripts, and accelerators that get customers live faster. This is how the whole team works.
These are the implementations that cannot afford to slip. You own them.
This is a high-touch, customer-facing role. You'll be live with customers for much of the day — running implementation and pre-sales calls, checking in proactively, and handling direct support on the accounts you own. The technical implementation is the heart of the work; you just deliver it in constant dialogue with the customer, not heads-down on your own. To be clear about the rest of the scope: this isn't a project management role — you're not coordinating a build from a spreadsheet, you're in the system doing the work. It isn't a training or enablement role either; customer education and ongoing adoption are owned by Customer Success, and you own the technical implementation that makes those conversations possible. And it's not a role for someone who has only advised on implementations. We want the person who built them and got customers live.
Implementation delivery
Own end-to-end implementation of Katana for high-value and complex accounts — multi-channel, multi-location merchants with real operational depth: discovery, solution design, integrations, data migration, configuration, and go-live.
Design the target system architecture for each account, mapping real-world manufacturing, inventory, and fulfillment workflows into a working Katana configuration.
Lead data migration and setup — bills of materials, product and material catalogs, stock, suppliers, historical data — with data integrity intact at go-live.
Integrations and custom solutions
Build and configure integrations between Katana and the customer's wider system landscape: Shopify, WooCommerce, accounting, shipping, and EDI, using native connectors, APIs, and middleware.
Develop custom solutions, scripts, and workarounds via API, automation tooling, and middleware that extend Katana to fit advanced requirements — scoped to what each account needs, and a growing part of the role over time.
Use AI as a core delivery tool — building accelerators, tooling, and solutions that raise the speed and quality of every go-live.
Build reusable integration solutions, migration tooling, and playbooks that raise delivery speed and quality across the whole Solution Engineering team.
Cross-functional
Take pre-sales calls as part of a full-cycle process — validating technical fit and integration feasibility before commitment.
Partner with Forward Deployed Engineering and Product to scope and escalate work beyond configuration, with clear diagnostics and prioritization.
Partner with Sales and Customer Success so complex accounts launch cleanly and are set up for expansion — and mentor Solutions Engineers on hands-on implementation and API techniques.
The outcomes this role moves, in priority order: successful go-lives time to value implementation quality enabling expansion team enablement.
The early proof, before those metrics visibly move, is simple: the first complex integration built end-to-end, and a clean first go-live the customer signs off on.
In your first 6 months:
You've owned 6–8 high-value or complex implementations through to a clean go-live — full system landscape integrated, customer data intact.
You've shipped the first reusable integration solution and migration approach the wider SE team adopts.
Post go-live escalations are dropping on the accounts you own.
By 12 months:
Implementation cycle time on complex accounts is measurably shorter.
A documented playbook for high-value go-lives is in active use across the team.
You own and complete Katana Advantage implementations end-to-end.
Experience and skills
A track record of leading full software implementations end-to-end for high-value or complex accounts — in B2B SaaS, ERP, MRP, or inventory and manufacturing software.
Direct, hands-on experience with inventory and manufacturing operations — a genuine understanding of how production, stock, and fulfilment actually run across channels and locations, not just in theory.
Hands-on API and integration experience: building or configuring integrations across e-commerce (Shopify, WooCommerce), accounting, shipping, and EDI.
Comfort working directly in systems — configuring, mapping and migrating data, troubleshooting integrations, and building workarounds.
Strong technical discovery and solution design. You translate a real-world operation into a working system.
Excellent communication. You can lead a technical conversation with a customer and explain a complex setup clearly.
Comfortable with AI, and hungry to build with it. You're not afraid of AI — you reach for tools like Claude to dig into complex problems and move faster, and you're excited to push what they can do. We use AI every day here, and we'll back you to grow that muscle fast.
Bonus points: scripting (JavaScript, Python, SQL); iPaaS or middleware (Make, Zapier); experience with MRP, ERP, or inventory platforms; and especially — you've already built something with Claude or Claude Code, even a personal project, since it shows the curiosity and builder instinct we're after.
Builder and finisher. You own implementations to go-live and take pride in a clean cutover.
Hands-on by default. You'd rather build the integration than write a spec for someone else to build.
Calm under complexity. Dirty data, tight go-live dates, and multi-system integrations energize you.
Customer-grounded. You care that the customer's operation actually runs — not just that the project closed.
Adaptable and always learning. We change often and fast, and so does the work — what you do today will look different six months from now. A new system, a strange edge case, an unfamiliar tool: you treat it as something to figure out, not a reason to stall. That goes double for AI tooling — you reach for it first, push what it can do, and fold new capabilities into how you deliver.
You act like an owner and lead without a title. Here, leadership is a way of working, not a role. You bring your own structure, close gaps before anyone asks, and set the standard others build from — whether or not it's on your job description.
Remote-first, with flexibility to travel when necessary (minimal if you're Toronto-based). We're looking for someone in the East Coast / EST time zone, with availability for an 11 AM – 7 PM EST window where our coverage matters most. Toronto-area is preferred since most of the team is there, but we're open across EST.
