Full job description

Job Summary
The Summer Student - Synagogue Office position offers an engaging opportunity for students interested in community service, administration, and non-profit work. This role provides hands-on experience supporting the daily operations of the synagogue, assisting with various administrative tasks, and engaging with community members. The position is ideal for students seeking to develop skills in document management, customer service, in a community setting.

Duties

Support the administrative team in sending out membership renewals and following up to ensure maximum membership retention
Assist with maintaining and updating synagogue databases, including member records and event information
Utilize SharePoint or similar document management tools
Aid marketing efforts by assisting in creating content and distributing communications to promote synagogue programs and events
Provide excellent customer service to congregation members and visitors, answering inquiries both in person and via phone or email
Assist in event planning, or other projects as assigned
Help organize community events, meetings, and summer programs
Perform general administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and preparing correspondence

Qualifications

Currently enrolled as a student with a strong interest in community service, administration, or non-profit work
Experience working with databases and familiarity with SharePoint is a plus
Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally
Knowledge of synagogue practices and rituals
Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or similar tools
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

This position offers valuable experience for students eager to contribute to their community while developing professional skills in office administration, document management, and marketing.

Pay: $17.60 per hour
