Job Description
Fluidstream Inc. (www.fluidstream.co) builds and services patented compression equipment for oilfield production applications.
We are currently looking for a Field Service Technician to join our team in Calgary, Alberta. This is primarily a field service role supporting customers at Alberta oilfield sites, with shop work as a secondary responsibility.
This is a hands on field role, not a desk job or controls only position. The right person must be comfortable working outdoors, travelling to customer sites, troubleshooting equipment, and helping build and assemble units in the shop when not in the field.
This is also a development role for someone who wants to build a long term oilfield service career. Reliability, attitude, and willingness to learn matter more than already having every qualification.
Responsibilities
Field Work, Primary Responsibility
- Visit customer oilfield sites to service, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair Fluidstream equipment.
- Assist with routine service, mechanical troubleshooting, basic electrical and controls checks, startup support, commissioning support, and field repairs.
- Replace seals, valves, hoses, sensors, fittings, and other equipment components as required.
- Work with other technicians during field service calls, especially during training.
- Communicate clearly with Fluidstream staff and customers during service work.
- Prepare basic service notes, photos, and field updates after site visits.
- Work outdoors in Alberta field conditions, including winter and summer weather.
Shop Work, Secondary Responsibility
- Assist with assembly of Fluidstream compression units.
- Perform hydraulic plumbing, hose and fitting work, mechanical assembly, teardown, inspection, cleaning, and preparation.
- Support basic wiring and control panel work when required.
- Help test units before shipment or field deployment.
- Organize parts, tools, and shop materials as needed.
- Work independently in the shop once tasks are assigned.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of hands on mechanical, trade, shop, or field experience.
- Oilfield experience is preferred.
- Trade school, apprenticeship, or equivalent hands on mechanical experience accepted.
- Millwright, heavy duty mechanic, automotive mechanic, instrumentation, electrical, or similar trade background is preferred.
- Completed trade ticket is preferred but not required.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
- Basic electrical or controls experience is helpful, but training will be provided.
- Must be reliable, safety minded, and comfortable working outdoors on oilfield sites.
- Must be able to lift 50 lb.
- Must be able to travel for field service work.
- Must be available for overtime and occasional evenings or weekends when field work requires it.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license required.
- Clean driver’s abstract required.
- No major violations, suspensions, or DUI in the previous 5 years.
- Must be able to pass required customer site access requirements and obtain required safety tickets.
What We Offer

- Company vehicle may be provided for field work.
- Opportunity to work directly with experienced technicians and company leadership.
- Long term career growth as the company expands.
- Hands on experience with patented oilfield compression technology.
