About the Role
We are looking for a dynamic Business Development Manager to join our team and fuel our continued growth. If you're a results-driven professional with a passion for technical sales in the food industry, this is your opportunity to make a real impact.
Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
· Prospect and Qualify Opportunities: Identify and qualify new business leads using market research, networking, and available resources to build a robust sales pipeline.
· Customer Engagement: Provide exceptional support by responding to inquiries, conducting needs assessments, and partnering with existing clients to uncover upsell and cross-sell opportunities.
· Sales Execution: Present technical solutions, negotiate contracts, and close deals to meet or exceed quarterly and annual sales targets.
· Relationship Management: Nurture long-term client relationships, ensure accurate CRM updates, and collaborate with internal teams (e.g., engineering and management) to deliver customized solutions.
· Market Intelligence: Stay ahead of industry trends, competitive landscapes, and emerging needs in automation, conveying, and packaging to inform sales strategies.
· Reporting and Collaboration: Maintain weekly pipeline updates, provide insights on growth opportunities, and contribute to team meetings to align on goals and challenges.
· Travel and Representation: Expect extensive local travel (GTA/Niagara region), occasional U.S. trips, and participation in trade shows or client events to promote Jantz Canada's brand.
What you bring Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum 5+ years in sales within automation, conveying, packaging, or related equipment for the food industry (bakery, food & beverage, or fresh produce preferred).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD for basic drawings and layouts; strong understanding of equipment like conveyors, palletizers, case packers, and bulk handling systems.
- Sales Acumen: Proven track record of exceeding sales goals through negotiation, closing techniques, and relationship-building.
- Soft Skills: Self-starter with excellent presentation, organizational, and time management abilities; thrives in high-pressure, competitive environments; team-oriented yet independent.
- Professional Tools: Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM systems; outstanding verbal and written communication.
- Education: Bachelor's degree or diploma in business, engineering, marketing, or a related field is a plus, but equivalent experience is valued.
