Accounts Payable Clerk

Location: Edmonton, AB

Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent, On-Site

Position Summary

Burke Group is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounts Payable Clerk to join our Accounting team in Edmonton. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting our day-to-day financial operations by processing invoices, maintaining vendor accounts, and ensuring accurate and timely payments.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, has strong attention to detail, and takes pride in delivering accurate and efficient results.

Key Responsibilities

Process a high volume of vendor invoices accurately and efficiently.
Verify invoice approvals, coding, and supporting documentation.
Match invoices to purchase orders and receiving documents where applicable.
Prepare and process payment runs, including EFTs, cheques, and credit card transactions.
Reconcile vendor statements and investigate discrepancies.
Respond to vendor inquiries and resolve payment-related issues in a professional and timely manner.
Maintain accurate vendor records and files.
Assist with month-end closing activities and account reconciliations.
Monitor outstanding invoices and ensure payments are made according to agreed terms.
Collaborate with internal departments to resolve invoice and payment issues.
Support the Accounting team with administrative and ad hoc projects as required.

Qualifications

Strong knowledge of accounting and accounts payable principles.
Previous experience in an Accounts Payable or similar accounting role preferred.
Experience using Sage 300 (formerly Accpac) is required/preferred.
Strong understanding of invoicing and related financial processes.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is considered an asset.
