We are currently looking for a full-time Quality Technician (morning shift, to begin as a 3 month contract, with the possibility of being extended or transferred to permanent status based on performance) to join our team for our Toronto manufacturing plant (the closest main intersection is Victoria Park and Eglinton).
Quality Technician Responsibilities and Duties:
- Performs first article inspection and reports on finished products.
- Reviews and dispositions nonconforming reports.
- Creates rework documentation for parts processing throughout the facility.
- Initiates the restart process.
- Assists with inspections on finished products.
- Record keeping of QC documentation.
- Creates and maintains clear, complete and accurate records to meet internal and external customer requirements and regulatory agencies who audit the organization periodically.
- Performs inspection of incoming materials received from suppliers and subcontractors as per the procedure, as requested.
- Maintains up to date record keeping system. Documents results of all inspections. Prepares reports for the customer.
- Performs group A testing in compliance to MIL-P-50884 and prepare supporting documentation.
- Supports departments that are being audited by government an regulatory agencies.
- Assists with moving work orders in the MRP system in the quality department.
- Assists with the final audit process in preparation of deliverables to the customer.
- Creates and maintains clear, complete and accurate records to meet internal and external customer requirements and regulatory agencies who audit the organization periodically.
- A point of contact between a company and its customers regarding product quality.
- Addresses customer concerns, investigate quality issues, ensure corrective actions are implemented, and work to improve processes to meet customer expectations.
- Analyzes data, collaborates with internal teams, and communicates technical information to both customers and colleagues.
- Supports customer audits, technical meetings, and new product quality requirements.
- Performs and documents First-Off inspections for every new job, tooling change, or process change in flexible PCB manufacturing.
- Validates product conformance to customer drawings, specifications, IPC-6013/IPC-A-600, and internal standards.
- Approves or rejects First-Offs and work with Production to resolve any nonconformities.
- Supports in-process quality issues by providing engineering-level troubleshooting and disposition.
- Collaborates with Production, Process Engineering teams to reduce scrap, rework, and variation.
- Maintains control plans, PFMEAs, quality checklists, and inspection criteria.
- Participates in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensures proper documentation of nonconformities, corrective actions, ECNs, and process deviations.
- Prepares customer-facing quality reports, FAI packages, certificates of conformance, and inspection records.
- Ensures compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, customer-specific requirements, and IPC standards.
- Follows all health and safety policies and procedures.
- Wears personal protective equipment as prescribed.
- Follows all company policies and procedures.
- Attends meeting as required and actively participate.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Key Skills:
- Strong interpretation of engineering drawings, GD&T, stack-ups, and PCB fabrication files (Gerber).
- Familiarity with IPC-6013, IPC-A-600, IPC-A-610 and other relevant standards.
- Proficient in measurement tools (optical inspection, microscope, calipers, micrometers).
- Root-cause analysis and problem-solving proficiency (5 Why, Ishikawa).
- Experience with AS9100, ISO 9001 QMS experience is an asset.
Quality Technician Job Requirements:
- Technical College Diploma with technical experience (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Materials)
- 2–5 years of experience in PCB or flexible PCB manufacturing strongly preferred.
- Hands-on experience with First Article / First-Off inspection in electronics or PCB environment.
- Experience with customer quality engineering, complaint handling, and CAPA.
- Excellent communication skills with ability to interact directly with customers.
- Strong analytical and documentation skills.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision and manage multiple priorities.
- Team-oriented mindset with proactive approach to resolving issues.
- Proficient using Microsoft Office.
- Eligible for Controlled Goods Program (CGP) background check clearance
