Posting Overview:
Reporting to the Supervisor of IT Security Services, the Coordinator of IT Security Services provides comprehensive security support for all Information Technology infrastructure and services. Under the direction of the Supervisor, the Coordinator plays a key role in conducting administrative and disciplinary investigations related to IT systems, ensuring that all activities align with Board policies, regulatory requirements, and security best practices.
This role is responsible for protecting the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of all Board IT systems and data, whether hosted on-premises or in external environments. The Coordinator ensures that security requirements are proactively embedded into system design, procurement, and implementation processes, while maintaining the ongoing security posture of existing systems.
The position requires continuous monitoring of the evolving threat landscape, with responsibility for recommending and implementing appropriate mitigation strategies and contributing to incident response activities. The Coordinator supports the development and refinement of policies, procedures, and protocols related to security investigations, system design, security operations, and breach response.
The Coordinator also provides training and guidance to both end users and technical staff to strengthen overall security awareness and capability across the organization.
Qualifications/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in computer studies or related discipline. Equivalent relevant experience may be considered;
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) highly desirable;
- Cisco CCNA/CCNP, CCSP an asset;
- Microsoft MCITP (MCSE) an asset;
- Minimum of four years related experience in enterprise IT infrastructure with an emphasis on security is preferred.
Other Key Skills & Knowledge:
- Knowledge of SASE and next generation firewalls is an asset;
- Experience with XDR, SIEM and SOAR platforms, with experience in data source ingestion and creating detections and automations;
- Code and Script development experience an asset;
- Ability to support responses for IT security breaches as directed;
- Experience conducting routine security audits on systems and services;
- Experience conducting IT security investigations (technical and administrative);
- Experience communicating with internal departments and external agencies on investigations;
- Ability to provide input to policies, procedures and reports for security investigations;
- Experience providing security awareness and training;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Excellent prioritization and analytical skills;
- All other duties as assigned by the Supervisor of IT Security Services.
Position Effective Date & Length:
This position is located at the Chatham Regional Education Centre.
Non-union, 35 hours/week.
Compensation:
Level 4 - $88,900/annum - $98,778/annum
Comprehensive benefit package and OMERS pension plan are provided.
