AZ Driver – Heavy Haul (RGN/Float), Roll-Off & Lugger

Harbour Metals Recycling is a locally owned and operated scrap metal recycling company based in Thunder Bay. With a team of approximately 20–30 employees, we pride ourselves on maintaining a strong, team-oriented workplace.
We provide recycling services to industrial, commercial, and public customers, focusing on safe, efficient material handling and environmental responsibility. Our operation offers a stable, year-round work environment with a variety of day-to-day tasks.
Position Overview
This role involves operating a mix of roll-off and lugger trucks, along with heavy haul equipment (RGN/float moves) as required. The successful candidate will also assist with occasional equipment hauling and support general yard operations when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate roll-off and lugger trucks safely and efficiently
- Perform bin deliveries, pickups, and swaps within the city
- Complete daily inspections and basic preventative maintenance
- Secure and transport equipment using RGN/float trailers and dump trailers
- Perform proper load securement (chaining, strapping, tarping as required)
- Assist with occasional equipment hauling trips
- Communicate with dispatch and yard staff to coordinate loads
- Maintain accurate logbooks and documentation
Travel Requirements
- Approximately 95% local (in-town) work
- Occasional trips within ~350 km (a few times per month)
- Rare trips to locations such as the GTA or Winnipeg for equipment pickup
- Drivers are home most nights
Qualifications
- Valid AZ Driver’s License (Ontario) with clean abstract
- Proven experience with:
- Roll-off and/or lugger trucks
- Heavy haul operations (RGN/float experience required)
- Load securement and chaining machinery
- Dump trailer operations
- Strong understanding of safety regulations and procedures
- Ability to perform minor equipment repairs and troubleshooting
