Reporting to the Director, Research Administration and Strategic Initiatives, and working under the direction of the Research Development Lead (RDL), the incumbent assists the Generator Support Office (GSO) in the coordination of administrative requirements for funded research projects and supports the development and submission of external grant funding applications. The position requires understanding, planning for and coordinating all administrative requirements for projects from initial approval to closeout, including legal agreements, project changes, reporting and closeout. It will also entail providing support for development and submission of new grant funding applications including template creation, supporting documents, and funder portal entry, and, for common grant types, facilitating the grant application process directly with faculty and staff researchers from beginning to end. This position may potentially be extended and/or converted to full-time following the contract end date.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Providing excellent customer service to stakeholders in the GSO and in Sheridan’s Research Centres and Faculties;
- Ensuring all administrative requirements for funded projects are met in compliance with funding agency and Sheridan requirements, including legal agreements, changes, reporting, metrics tracking and other requirements;
- Liaising with the Research Centre Managers, GSO Research Finance Analyst team, and external industry/community project partners to ensure effective project administration and oversight;
- Maintaining a calendar of required project progress and final reports;
- Supporting the Research Development Lead in preparing grant application and budget templates, drafting and/or coordinating supporting documents, reviewing applications for administrative requirements, and entering information into funding agency portals;
- For simple or routine grant applications, leading the full submission process by working directly with faculty/staff applicants to develop, review and submit all required application components according to funding agency requirements;
- Scanning for new/open research grant calls and maintaining a calendar of grant deadlines;
- Performing other related duties, as assigned.

The successful candidate will also meet the following qualifications:
- Minimum 2-year diploma/degree in Project Management, Administration, Technical or Social Science; familiarity with research methodology.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in Project Management, preferably in a research environment in a post-secondary institution or related environment (college, university, research hospital, funding agency).
- Knowledge of research grant processes, terms and conditions; appreciation for research in an educational environment and an understanding of its complexities and challenges.
- Excellent project coordination, organizational and time-management skills.
- Intermediate level computer proficiency (MS Excel, Word, SharePoint).
