This is a full-time, permanent role with a Monday to Friday day-time schedule.

Job Responsibilities

In conjunction with the Food Services Manager, the Sous Chef will plan, direct and guide culinary team in the execution of daily food service in a manner that meets/exceeds operational and financial targets, working alongside front line staff when necessary
Leads and monitors Cooks and Food Service Workers? adherence to all Aramark operating standards and legislated standards within the component including company policy and procedure
Assists with onboarding, coaching and developing culinary staff
Assist with weekly inventory and product ordering
Standardizes production recipes to ensure consistent quality
Cooks and prepare a variety of food according to production guidelines and standardized recipes
Operates equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers, etc.
Bakes, roasts, broils, steams, and uses a variety of cooking methods on meat, vegetables, and other foods
Properly stores food by adhering to food safety policies and procedures
Cleans and sanitizes work areas, equipment, and utensils
Maintains excellent customer service and positive demeanor towards guests, customers, clients, co-workers, etc.
Remain compliant with regards to all OH&S policies, procedures and required activities (i.e. updated safety boards, inventory on First Aid Kits, proper chemical handling, monthly safety talks etc.)

Qualifications

5+ years culinary experience regardless of industry
Experience in leadership role, either individual contributor or people manager
Journeyman or Red Seal Certification in the Cook trade or equivalent preferred
Valid WHMIS and Food Safe (Basic or Advanced), First Aid Certification is an asset
Knowledge of and commitment to upholding high standards of food safety and hygiene
Skilled in task prioritization and time management
Ability to work effectively and efficiently supervised and unsupervised
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a genuine desire to provide outstanding customer service
Ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with colleagues to ensure smooth operations

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
