Job Title: Unit Clerk
Status: Casual Part Time
Department: AJAX LTC ADMIN SERVICES
Program: Long Term Care
4, 8, and 12 Hour Shifts, Days, Evenings, and Weekends Schedule (Subject to Change)
Location: Lakeridge Health Ajax, ON - Long Term Care
Wage Schedule: $28.980 - $30.290 per hour
CUPE: 2600001575

This position is open to all qualified CUPE staff throughout Lakeridge Health commencing 18 June 2026 and closing at 11:59 pm on 25 June 2026.

Duties and Responsibilities:

While adhering to confidentiality, the Unit Clerk acts as a receptionist while performing a wide variety of clerical duties such as:

Greeting visitors, determine purpose of visit, and direct visitors to appropriate person or service;
Answer and forward telephone calls, take messages, schedule appointments; schedule or secure transportation for residents and others as requested;
Placing outgoing calls as requested;
Maintain records as required and performs clerical work as assigned following Lakeridge Gardens policies and procedures; maintain current, orderly filing system;
Distribute mail;

*Maintain office equipment by following guidelines in owner manuals and contacting service repair as necessary *Monitor front door for residents at risk;

Extensive knowledge of Lakeridge Health's relevant collective agreements in order to support staffing and scheduling as required;
Adhere to established policies and procedures regarding quality assurance, fire, safety, environment and infection control;
All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Medical Office Administration Diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
Knowledge of programs with Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care;
Proven knowledge of medical terminology (tested);
Proven knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel (tested - basic level);
Proven keyboarding skills of 30 wpm (tested);
Exceptional organizational skills will enable you to prioritize, coordinate and perform a wide range of clerical duties necessary to the efficient functioning of the department;
Knowledge of Meditech;
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written in order to effectively interact with all levels of staff, patients and their families;
Ability to work in a stressful environment;
Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy;
Must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past 6 months
Must have a satisfactory performance record;
Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education in this area;
