-
Assist engineers and production managers in the development, layout, and modification of manufacturing processes and production workflows to improve efficiency, throughput, and material flow.
-
Assist in the implementation and monitoring of quality assurance programs, including inspection procedures, non-conformance tracking, and corrective actions.
-
Set up, adjust, and verify manufacturing equipment and machine parameters to ensure production meets engineering specifications and quality standards.
-
Provide technical support to production personnel, troubleshoot manufacturing issues, and assist in continuous improvement initiatives.
-
Support manufacturing activities related to metal fabrication processes, including welding, bending, laser cutting, and mechanical assembly.
-
Assist with production planning, materials flow coordination, and inventory-related process improvements as required.
Technical & Manufacturing Requirements
- Hands-on experience working in a food-grade manufacturing or automated equipment environment, including awareness of hygienic design principles and contamination control.
-
Practical experience assembling, testing, and supporting robotic or automated electromechanical systems, including mechanical subassemblies, actuators, sensors, conveyors, and enclosure systems.
-
Working knowledge of stainless steel fabrication for food-contact and near-food-contact components, including surface finish requirements, fastener selection, and cleanability considerations.
-
Experience with sheet metal fabrication and precision mechanical assembly for robotic systems, including tolerance control and repeatability.
-
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, assembly drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs) for robotic or automated equipment.
-
Experience supporting prototype builds and low-to-medium volume production of complex machines.
Food Safety & Compliance Requirements
- Understanding of food safety standards and regulatory requirements relevant to automated food equipment, including: NSF/ANSI or equivalent sanitation standards (equipment design awareness)
-
Ability to support manufacturing processes that meet food-grade cleanliness, traceability, and documentation requirements.
-
Experience collecting and documenting quality and sanitation data to support internal quality systems and customer audits.
Automation, Testing & Process Control
- Experience assisting with functional testing, validation, and verification of automated or robotic food production equipment.
-
Ability to support process validation activities, including repeatability testing, cycle time verification, and yield tracking.
-
Experience setting up and monitoring process parameters for automated equipment (mechanical, thermal, or motion-related), under engineering guidance.
-
Familiarity with basic industrial automation concepts, such as sensors, limit switches, safety interlocks, and fault detection.
Production & Continuous Improvement
- Experience conducting time and motion studies on automated or semi-automated production lines to improve throughput and reduce waste.
-
Ability to identify manufacturing bottlenecks, assembly inefficiencies, and quality risks in robotic system production.
-
Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives (Lean manufacturing, 5S, or similar methodologies) in a high-mix manufacturing environment.
Safety & Workplace Requirements
- Knowledge of industrial and robotic safety practices, including lockout/tagout, machine guarding, and safe work procedures.
-
Experience participating in or supporting a Joint Health & Safety Committee, safety audits, and incident investigations.
