Position Summary:
The Junior Financial Analyst position as a member of the Finance team will report directly to the Manager - General Accounting. The incumbent will be responsible for keeping the general ledger up to date and ensuring reconciliations are completed in a timely manner.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for completing regular month end close journal entries
- Recurring reconciliations for balance sheet accounts including bank reconciliations
- Create monthly financial statements for review
- Perform monthly cash flow analysis for management review
- Supports financial activities for Hospital Auxiliary programs
- Completes monthly HST rebate submissions
- Provide back up for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Analysts as required
- Run monthly reports for Finance Department
- Support annual external audit
- Support change initiatives in the General Accounting department
- Annual budget upload to general ledger software
- Other duties as required
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree in Business/Accounting (preferred).
- Working towards recognized accounting designation (CPA) or at least three years accounting and or hospital experience (preferred)
- Health Information System experience an asset (MEDITECH, General Ledger & MIS Database).
- Ontario Healthcare Reporting Standards (OHRS) knowledge (preferred).
- Proficiency at an advanced level in Microsoft Access, Excel (required).
- Proficiency at an intermediate level in Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint & Word (preferred).
- Demonstrated intermediate level analytical & critical thinking skills.
- Ability to multi-task
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to respond toward requirement changes and manage conflicting deadlines appropriately.
- Flexibility to work off-hours in time sensitive situations.
