Dyck's Equipment & Services Inc. is a small landscaping and excavation company seeking new talent to join and grow with our team. We have part time and full time positions available.
Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Landscaping Labourer / Operator to join our team. This role involves hands-on work in major projects and enhancing residential/commercial outdoor spaces, while utilizing various equipment and tools. The ideal candidate will have a passion for outdoor work, be a self starter who can work independently and on a team without requiring constant instruction and guidance. We are looking for someone who already has experience, and isn't afraid to 'get their hands dirty'.
We are primarily looking for a labourer , who is also interested in light equipment operating (skid steer / excavator), or has a drive to learn equipment operating and grow with our small business. The ideal candidate has some knowledge of equipment operating, and a strong work ethic for hands on labour work in landscaping (shovel work, grading, site planning, deck and fence construction, patio and hardscaping, trenching, irrigation, drainage, sod work and rock work).
We do not do property maintenance, so this isn't a job where you're planting flowers and mowing lawns. We enhance or build residential/commercial spaces from the ground up.
Duties

- Use hand tools and power tools for various tasks such as digging, cutting, woodwork, and shaping landscapes

- Ensure safety protocols are followed during all operations and maintenance activities
- Assist with site cleanup and debris removal to uphold project standards
- Drive trucks and operate/load dump trailers, deck trailers
Experience
- Prior experience with heavy equipment is preferred but not required
- Knowledge of landscaping and construction is critical. You should know your way around a tool set and have a strong drive for physical labor. We are not hiring someone who plans to sit in a machine and only be an operator.
- Mechanical knowledge related to the operation and basic repair of power tools and machinery
- Background in construction or landscaping work is advantageous
- Ability to read plans or blueprints related to landscaping projects is beneficial
- A valid drivers license and clean driving record is considered an extremely strong asset
This role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to outdoor project work. Candidates should be comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions and committed to maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
A successful candidate will learn how to, or already know how to operate a skid steer and show interest in snow plowing through the winter season.
