Full job description

Queens County Residential Services is a non-profit organization that provides residential care and day program support for adults with intellectual disabilities. We are currently hiring casual staff in both our residential programs and day program.

Residential care - supplement your income by working flexible hours, including a mix of days, evenings, weekends, and overnights, with scheduling determined by a combination of your availability and the needs of our homes. Availability to work a range of shifts, including day shifts, is considered a strong asset.

Day Program support - this Monday-Friday role at our Community Support Program strives to offer an ever growing and changing range of choices to meet the needs and preferences of the individuals that we work with through livelong learning, recreational programs and community access.

Responsibilities

Provide compassionate care and support to residents in a residential/day program setting.
Assist with daily living activities, including meal preparation and personal hygiene.
Support clients in building independence and life skills.
Administer medications as prescribed and monitor residents’ health conditions.
Maintain a clean and safe environment for residents, ensuring their comfort and well-being.
Support lifelong learning and community access
Collaborate with healthcare professionals and family members to develop and implement care plans.
Utilize First Aid and NVCI techniques as needed to ensure the safety of residents

Qualifications

Education and Training (preferred):

Post-secondary training in Human Services, Youth Care Worker, Resident Care Worker (RCW), Personal Care Worker, Nursing, Social Services, or a related program.
Equivalent combination of education and experience in Human Services will be considered.
First Aid, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI), and Transfer, Lift and Reposition (TLR) training are assets.

Mandatory Requirements:

Must be a resident of Prince Edward Island.
Must provide a valid Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search prior to hire.

Driving & Insurance Requirements
(Most positions require the following)

A valid, full Class 5 driver’s licence (applicants with a graduated or learner’s licence will not be considered).
A reliable personal vehicle, insured for work purposes, and a willingness to transport clients (mileage reimbursement will apply).

Additional Assets:

Flexibility to work a variety of shifts (including daytime hours, evenings, nights, weekends, and overnights) is considered a strong asset.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Pay: $22.96 per hour
