Job Title: General Production Worker
Job Description
The General Production Worker supports high-volume candy manufacturing by rotating between packing, inspecting, and material handling tasks while maintaining strict quality, safety, and cleanliness standards. This role works in a modern, automated production environment and plays a key part in ensuring that all packaged products meet Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety requirements.
Responsibilities

Rotate between workstations, including feeding finished candy onto the dumping table and inspecting candy quality to ensure packaged product meets established standards.

Pack bagged candy into cardboard boxes at designated machines and manually load filled boxes onto empty pallets for transfer to the warehouse.

Communicate material and supply requirements promptly to the appropriate personnel to keep production lines running efficiently.

Provide support to machine operators as needed, including assisting with line changeovers, basic adjustments, and material handling.

Continuously clean the area surrounding the workstation to maintain a safe and organized work area throughout the shift.

Maintain general work center cleanliness and actively support major line cleaning activities and end-of-shift cleaning tasks.

Identify, clear, and fix jam-ups on the production line to minimize downtime and maintain product flow.

Accurately record batch numbers and time of day for every new pallet of candy to support traceability and quality control requirements.

Develop knowledge and understanding of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions, and apply them consistently in daily tasks.

Understand, participate in, and support all safety programs, policies, and initiatives within the manufacturing location.

Ensure all packaged product produced meets all GMP and food safety requirements by following proper handling, sanitation, and documentation practices.

Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor to support overall production and facility operations.
Essential Skills
-
At least 6 months of general labour experience in a production, manufacturing, or similar environment.

Experience with general production tasks such as packing, material handling, or line support.

Ability to perform repetitive packing and packaging tasks accurately and efficiently.

Capability to lift up to 30 lbs on a regular basis during the shift.

Basic understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) or willingness to learn and follow GMP requirements.

Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and written work instructions.

Strong attention to detail when inspecting product quality and recording batch information.

Willingness to work rotating continental day and night shifts in a 24/7 facility.

Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work area.

Effective communication skills to report material needs, issues, and concerns to appropriate personnel.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience with forklift operation is an asset.

Experience in sanitation tasks within a manufacturing or food production environment is beneficial.

Exposure to machine operating or assisting machine operators in a production setting is an advantage.

Familiarity with automated or state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment is considered a plus.

Comfort working in a structured, SOP-driven environment with strong focus on food safety and quality.

Work Environment
This role is based in a large, GMP-compliant manufacturing facility with heavily automated, state-of-the-art equipment and a strong focus on cleanliness and food safety. The environment is temperature-controlled and very clean, with strict adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices. Team members must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including hairnets, beard nets where applicable, coats, and safety shoes. The facility operates 24/7 with rotating continental day and night shifts, typically following a pattern such as: Week 1 – Monday–Tuesday days (7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.), Wednesday–Thursday off, Friday–Sunday nights (7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.); Week 2 – Monday–Tuesday off, Wednesday–Thursday days (7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.), Friday–Sunday off, and so on. There are approximately 400–500 employees at the facility, with about 100 people per crew across four crews, creating a busy but well-organized production environment. Individuals who are only able to work days or nights may be considered for contract opportunities, depending on operational needs.
