Position Overview
Calgary Foothills Soccer Club is seeking experienced, motivated and dependable Academy Trainers to join our technical team.
Academy Trainers are responsible for delivering high-quality technical programming across the club’s player development pathway. Working from the club’s curriculum and under the direction of the club’s technical leadership, successful candidates will create positive, engaging and challenging environments that support the development of every player.
This is a part-time contract position with a guaranteed minimum of 10 paid hours per week throughout the contract period. Additional hours may be available through academy programming, camps, evaluations and other club initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver academy sessions in alignment with the club’s curriculum and technical methodology
- Create an engaging, inclusive and development-focused environment for players
- Provide clear instruction, demonstrations and individual feedback
- Adapt sessions to suit the age, ability and developmental needs of each group
- Support player evaluations and ongoing development discussions
- Work collaboratively with club technical staff and team coaches
- Communicate professionally with players, parents, coaches and club staff
- Assist with camps, evaluations and additional technical programming when required
- Arrive prepared and maintain the club’s technical and professional standards
- Follow all club policies and procedures relating to player safety, conduct and well-being
- Maintain flexibility as schedules and programming needs change throughout the season
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience coaching youth soccer
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification
- Successful completion of a Police Information Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Check
- Strong communication, organization and leadership skills
- Reliable transportation
- Availability to work weekday evenings and weekends
- A professional, dependable and player-centred approach
- Legal eligibility to work in Canada
Preferred Qualifications
- Canada Soccer coaching licence
- Experience delivering academy or technical development programs
- Experience working with players across different ages and ability levels
- Additional Canada Soccer or NCCP coaching qualifications
- Understanding of long-term player development principles
- Interest in continued coach education and professional development
Hours and Compensation
Academy Trainers are guaranteed a minimum of 10 paid hours per week throughout the contract period.
The hourly rate will be determined based on the successful candidate’s coaching qualifications, experience and suitability for the role.
Most programming takes place during weekday evenings. Some weekend availability may be required for camps, games, festivals, evaluations and club events.
Additional hours may be available based on club programming needs and trainer availability. Scheduled hours may change throughout the season to meet the operational needs of the club.
