Full job description

Job Overview

A well-established company in the Grande Prairie region is seeking an experienced accounting professional to manage its day-to-day accounting operations. This is a hands-on role requiring someone who is comfortable working independently and managing multiple accounting functions with accuracy and attention to detail. This is not an entry-level or bookkeeping position.

Key Responsibilities

Manage day-to-day accounting transactions.
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Administer payroll and maintain payroll records.
Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and other balance sheet accounts.
Maintain the general ledger and ensure transactions are recorded accurately.
Monitor cash receipts, deposits, and vendor payments.
Maintain organized electronic accounting records and supporting documentation.
Communicate with vendors, customers, financial institutions, and external advisors as required.
Assist with month-end procedures and provide supporting documentation for year-end working papers.
Identify and resolve discrepancies while maintaining accurate accounting records.
Support management with day-to-day accounting information and other duties as required.

Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years of experience in full-cycle accounting.
Strong working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and account reconciliations.
Experience using accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
Thorough understanding of Canadian payroll and GST requirements.
Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Ability to prioritize workload, meet deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision.
Professional, dependable, and able to maintain confidentiality.
