Lake Shore Gold, a subsidiary of Pan American Silver, is located in Timmins, Ontario. The Bell Creek Complex located approximately 20 kilometers northeast of Timmins, Ontario, consists of an underground mine and processing facility. Mineralization is associated with the Porcupine-Destor fault system within the Abitibi greenstone belt, with ore mined by narrow vein longhole stoping methods. Ore is then transported to surface via a modern one thousand eighty metre deep shaft capable of forty-eight hundred tonnes per day.
The Timmins West mine is located approximately 18 kilometers west of Timmins, Ontario, one of the world’s most prolific gold camps. Mineralization is associated with the Porcupine-Destor fault system within the Abitibi greenstone belt. The Timmins West mine is comprised of the Timmins deposit, the Thunder Creek deposit, and the 144 Gap deposit. All three deposits are interconnected by underground drifts.

We are looking to hire a Senior Project Engineer to join our Timmins Operations team in Timmins, ON. to play a key role in the Bell Creek Shaft expansion project on a full-time basis. The schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, 8 hrs/day or 4 on, 3 off, 10hrs/day.
This position offers a base salary range of $125,000 - $150,000 annually, based on qualifications and experience.

The Senior Project Engineer will play a key role in advancing the Shaft Project and is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing engineering projects from conception through completion. This role ensures projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with technical specifications, regulatory requirements, and organizational objectives. The Senior Project Engineer serves as a technical leader, collaborating with the project Engineering and Operations teams, contractors, vendors, and stakeholders to achieve successful project outcomes.
Reporting to the Project Engineering Superintendent, the Senior Project Engineer will have the following responsibilities:
- Helping to execute the operational plan for completing the project
- Perform QAQC on all new installations
- Produce project schedule and update as needed using project planning software
- Assist with the development, optimization and implementation of project plans to ensure budget, schedule and overall project objectives are achieved in a safe and economic manner
- Supervise other engineering staff
- Ensure all layouts, prints and drawings are accurately produced and delivered on time for the project demands
- Monitor progress and report progress performance against the project plan
- Facilitate daily and weekly planning meetings, with key personnel including contractors, to coordinate activities in order to review performance against targets and ensure project objectives at met
- Troubleshoot problems that arise; analyze and recommend solutions so that project work can proceed according to plan
- In consultation with the project team, evaluate alternative optimized methods for execution of project work, detailing the costs, benefits and issues with each approach and make recommendations to the team
- Assist and coordinate Projects work with Mine Operations and Contractors, which includes the management of the planning, scheduling, and budgeting for each project

The following will be critical to successfully performing this role:
- Licensed professional Engineer (or have the technical equivalency)
- 5 years experience in underground mining
- Project experience in mining projects
- Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is an asset
- Strong leadership skills
- Experience in engineering leadership
- Proven abilities to understand critical timelines
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong skills using project planning software such as MS Project, Primavera, Excel, Deswik
