The Department of Psychiatry in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Research Coordinator - Youth Mental Health and Community Engagement. This Full-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 6 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.
The Research Coordinator will be a part of a team supporting community and youth engagement for the Pan-GEM project. This initiative seeks to enhance our understanding of genetic and environmental risk and protective factors for the development of mental health concerns in young people. This is a national project that brings together multiple youth mental health and development studies with the goal of generating a large, representative data set of youth across Canada.

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

Manage community and youth research partnerships to support meeting project goals

Responsible for coordinating and leading meetings, outlining collaborator and project needs, developing effective plans to meet those needs, managing the appropriate approvals and timelines, and ultimately presenting progress and findings to the larger Pan-GEM team
Support a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork, and complies with all applicable University of Calgary policies, as well as all regulatory and legislative requirements

Qualifications / Requirements:

A graduate degree in a relevant field and demonstrated experience working with community organizations/community-based research and at-risk youth

Previous experience with genetics and/or mental health research is considered a strong asset

Candidates are required to have knowledge of Tri-Council Policy for ethics in human research, OCAP principles as well as CARE and FAIR principles for research data

Proficiency with word processing, PowerPoint and database software packages is required

The ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and diverse stakeholders is essential

Demonstrated communications skills (both oral and written) are required as is the ability to explain complex issues in plain language

Excellent attention to detail, the ability to exercise initiative and good judgment, and be able to meet deadlines while working independently with minimal supervision

Ability to multi-task and produce high-quality work in a fast-paced environment

Ability to work effectively in a variety of settings with individuals from diverse backgrounds

Ability to travel to multiple sites around the City of Calgary area to meet with partners is essential
