North America-based Axiom Material Handling Solutions is seeking a Project Manager to join their team. The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing various material-handling projects. The Project Manager will oversee all aspects of the projects from mobilization, project schedules, construction documentation, milestones, and client engagement.
Job Purpose: As a leader in the relationship with the company, other contractors, and clients; the Project Manager is the 1st management level on AMHS projects and has a further role as a coordinating manager and client interface. The Project Manager has the following specific areas of responsibility:
Ø The Project Manager is accountable for managing project plans and schedules while ensuring that the team under their instruction performs activities to meet milestones and contract objectives.
Ø Develops a winning strategy for complex pricing and bid submissions and uses analytical skills to recognize project risks and opportunities to determine potential impact and develop a mitigation plan.
Ø Establish a critical path schedule with our in-house team, including milestone dates and completion timelines to meet contract completion dates for all projects.
Ø Captures and understands trade scopes and communicates gaps/missing information.
Ø Translating general work requirements into a prioritized work plan for the supervisory team members, working with team members to overcome work environment challenges.
Ø The Project Manager communicates objectives to their Supervisors and manages expectations with Stakeholders, periodically reassessing goals to meet forecasted objectives by updating schedules.
Ø Prepare for and participate in the monthly Senior Sponsor meetings, as well as follow up with action items from the meeting. This includes sharing the monthly status of the program, issues, risks, mitigation plans, dependencies, financial status, and needs/requests from the sponsors.
Ø Conduct and capture regular meetings with stakeholders, partners, resources, and vendors that are responsible to deliver parts of the project and follow up with action items from the meetings.
Ø Maintain, recognize, address, and resolve discernable behaviour to ensure morale and productivity exceed Customer and Axiom policies and procedures.
Ø The Project Manager must provide leadership that results in safe work culture and is responsible and accountable for the safety of the crew under their direction.
Ø Knowledge and understanding of the requirements of the workplace health and safety legislation where they are operating.
Ø Managing the project, including quality and production work; ensuring that team members work to job specifications and follow the plans.
Ø Review test plans to ensure completeness, accuracy and alignment with required specifications and design.
Ø Ensuring that team members from the Site Supervisor to Lead Hands understand the quality standards.
Ø Raise concerns to the project Supervisor and/or Program Manager, and/or address any concerns diplomatically with the Customer.
Ø Reviewing the Site Supervisor’s inspections and documentation of completed work.
Ø Report to the AMHS Program Manager (PgM) on the project status, financials, schedule, risks, and issues.
Ø Creating and Managing the Project Schedule (GANTT, Milestone, etc.) ensuring changes are documented and scheduled using a change control process.
Skills/Qualifications:
Ø Excellent written and verbal communication skills for negotiation and presentations, team management, organization, and risk management.
Ø Ideally possess a Project Management designation (PMP, GSC, Prince2, CPMP, etc.)
Ø 5 years of Construction/Mechanical Project Management experience or on projects over $5+ Million.
Ø Ability to create and manage the project schedule.
Ø Working knowledge of CAD, BIM, Microsoft Project, Microsoft PowerBI, and other software.
Ø Asset– possess a Journeyman’s license (Millwright or Equivalent)
Ø Asset– possess a degree in engineering, construction management, architecture, or equivalent work experience.
Ø Has a valid and clean driver’s license.
Ø Ability to travel across Canada as needed.
Ø Lead the team and maintain strong working relationships with team members, clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
Ø Ability to use historical data to develop bid-win strategies and lead bid-win strategy meetings.
Ø Expert in understanding bid processes and contract terms for different delivery type methods (hard bid, lump sum, GMP, design-build, etc.) and the ability to identify contract risks and opportunities.
Ø Advanced knowledge and understanding of different construction methods, planning, scheduling, and sequencing.
Ø Apply problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
Ø Handle the administrative duties of the position, including completion of required documents.
Ø Knows and Understands WSIB, project safety programs, Employment standards and company policies.

Pay: $100,000.00-$115,000.00 per year
