We are currently seeking an experienced Plumbing Estimator to expand our estimating capacity and support the continued growth of our plumbing division.
Position Overview
The Plumbing Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate, competitive, and comprehensive estimates for a broad range of plumbing projects.
The successful candidate will review drawings and specifications, complete detailed quantity take-offs, obtain supplier and subcontractor pricing, identify project risks and opportunities, and prepare complete tender submissions.
This role requires strong plumbing knowledge, sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
· Prepare detailed estimates for industrial, commercial, institutional, renovation, retrofit, and new construction plumbing projects.
· Review drawings, specifications, addenda, tender documents, and contract requirements.
· Complete accurate material, equipment, and labour take-offs.
· Obtain and evaluate pricing from suppliers, manufacturers, and subcontractors.
· Prepare tender summaries, bid forms, scope letters, clarifications, exclusions, and supporting documentation.
· Identify project risks, constructability concerns, scope gaps, and potential cost-saving opportunities.
· Develop labour projections and assess manpower, equipment, and material requirements.
· Attend site visits, tender meetings, and project handover meetings as required.
· Coordinate with project managers, field personnel, purchasing, accounting, and other Lancaster divisions.
· Maintain organized estimating files, pricing information, historical data, and vendor relationships.
· Support budgeting, conceptual estimating, design-build, and design-assist opportunities.
· Assist with project handover following successful awards.
· Monitor market conditions, material pricing, labour rates, and industry trends.
· Contribute to the continued improvement of Lancaster’s estimating systems and processes.
Qualifications and Experience
· Minimum of five years of plumbing estimating, project management, or related construction experience.
· Strong knowledge of commercial, industrial, and institutional plumbing systems.
· Journeyperson plumbing certification is considered a strong asset.
· Experience estimating new construction, renovations, service upgrades, and retrofit projects.
· Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and contract documents.
· Strong understanding of plumbing materials, labour requirements, installation methods, and construction sequencing.
· Experience preparing competitive tenders and managing multiple bid deadlines.
· Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
· Experience with mechanical estimating software.
· Strong mathematical, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate work.
· Valid Ontario driver’s licence.

Schedule and Work Location
· Full-time, permanent position.
· Monday to Friday.
· Primarily based at Lancaster Group’s Hamilton office.
· Occasional travel to project sites, client meetings, and tender walkthroughs may be required.
Pay: $80,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
