Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Manager or Manager, Public Practice to join their team during an exciting period of growth and expansion.This is an opportunity for a CPA professional looking to take the next step in their career while helping grow a thriving local office. You'll work closely with firm leadership, mentor and develop staff, build strong client relationships, become active in the business community, and play a key role in the future growth and success of the practice.
About the Opportunity
The Senior Manager or Manager, Public Practice is responsible for building and managing client engagements and supporting practice growth across a diverse client base of owner-managed businesses, agricultural operations, and not-for-profit organizations.This role works closely with Partners and firm leadership to deliver exceptional client service, strengthen community relationships, and contribute to the long-term success of the practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage assurance engagements, including audits and reviews
- Lead compilation engagements and financial statement preparation
- Oversee corporate and personal tax engagements
- Provide bookkeeping, advisory, and consulting services
- Manage a portfolio of owner-managed businesses, agricultural clients, and not-for-profit organizations
- Build and maintain strong client relationships as a trusted advisor
- Mentor, coach, and develop professional staff
- Participate in business development, networking, and community engagement activities
- Support practice growth and strategic initiatives
- Ensure quality client service and technical excellence across engagements
Key Qualifications
- CPA designation
- 5+ years of progressive public practice experience
- Strong technical knowledge of assurance, accounting, and taxation
- Experience managing client relationships and engagement portfolios
- Previous leadership, supervisory, or management experience
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Entrepreneurial mindset with an interest in community
- Experience working with owner-managed businesses, agricultural clients, and not-for-profit organizations is an asset
- Familiarity with Caseware, TaxPrep, and QuickBooks is an asset (Sage is an Asset)
