Overview of the Role:
The Junior Systems Analyst supports the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of application, data, infrastructure, cloud, DevOps, and/or integration platforms. Working under the guidance of senior team members, this role contributes to operational support, continuous improvement initiatives, and the delivery of reliable technology solutions. The role collaborates closely with Data Analytics, DevOps, Cybersecurity, Architecture, Infrastructure, Operations, and Product Engineering teams.
Key Deliverables / Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot issues and provide workarounds and permanent solutions
- Actively participate in identifying process and system improvement opportunities
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to diagnose and resolve incidents within agreed service levels while maintaining ownership and providing timely status updates
- Participate in an on-call rotation and provide high-availability support (24/7) during assigned on-call periods
- Coordinate changes with IT support teams and prepare change management documentation for implementation activities
- Coordinate and perform comprehensive testing, including end-user validation, for modified and new application features and functionality
- Implement system changes in accordance with WestJet ITSM policies and procedures
- Assist in the analysis, configuration, testing, and support of systems and applications
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve efficiency through automation, monitoring, and dashboard development
- Analyze and evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and recommend improvements or enhancements
- Engage with application end users to understand business priorities and support their needs
- Collaborate with team members and support department initiatives
- Demonstrate initiative, curiosity, and a willingness to learn new technologies and processes
Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines using Terraform, Ansible, or other automation and scripting tools
- Strong problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders effectively
- Broad knowledge of IT disciplines, including application development, network and system administration, quality assurance, and application and data management
- Experience with Azure and cloud migration initiatives (IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS)
- Proficiency with workplace tools such as Microsoft Visio, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and Microsoft Teams
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with vendors, support teams, and business stakeholders
- Experience working in a highly collaborative, team-oriented environment.Understanding of ITIL processes, service management principles, and documentation standards
- Strong facilitation, presentation, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment when handling confidential and sensitive information
- Knowledge and experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) practices
- Partner with IT Security to ensure compliance with WestJet's data governance and security policies
- Operational support experience with IBM MQ, Azure API Management (APIM), Confluent Kafka, IBM DataPower, Fortra GoAnywhere, or similar integration platforms is considered an asset
