The U of C Medical Group in the Cumming School of Medicine is currently seeking a Full-time Regular Accounts Receivable Specialist.
Position reports to the Manager, University of Calgary Medical Group (UCMG).
The Accounts Receivable Specialist provides support with regard to collections on third party invoices for University of Calgary Medical Group physicians.
This role works closely with the billing team, as well as internal and external stakeholders. A high volume of moderately complex transactional work along with multiple priorities are assigned to this role. Stress levels may be high at times.
Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

Responsible for initiating and preparing ACCPAC batches for earnings and deductions

Weekly download of Alberta Health and Wellness reconciled claims for members in ACCPAC

Responsible for weekly bank deposits to the Royal Bank as required

Prepares electronic payroll transfers to members for monthly clinical earnings and advance requests during the month on RBC Express

Issues payments to third parties
-
Daily Check with EIS for new invoices that have been created by billing clerks
-
Process credit card payments over the phone and monitor/apply online payments
-
Maintain adequate documentation to support account activity and reporting thereof
-
Daily follow-up on all outstanding accounts related to direct and third party invoices; handles records adjustments and corrections

Provides support and back-up for other members of the accounting team

Sends unpaid invoices to collection agency based on UCMG policies

Communicate third party invoicing and payment policies, procedures and processes to billing clerks in a professional and courteous manner

Develop financial reports in conjunction with the Team Lead and generate as necessary

Liaise with collections agency on unpaid invoices

May require contacting Alberta Health if the indication is that the patient has AHC coverage and their personal health number is valid

Proactively develop and maintain trustworthy and productive working relationships with all stakeholders including: colleagues, university departments, Alberta Health Services, WCB, colleagues and other external clients

Handle calls from patients/third party organizations who require or are providing additional information; handles records adjustments and corrections
Qualifications / Requirements:

Degree in Business or a related field

Minimum 3 year's accounts receivable experience is required

Excellent organization and independent decision making skills - good written and verbal communication skills

Must demonstrate efficient organizational and time management skills in setting appropriate priorities and accomplishing tasks within deadlines

Ability to build effective relationships through a high level of cooperation and understanding when dealing within the University or outside the University

Adapt to changes in organizational structures, systems and policies

Experience in providing/managing billing service and regulations for Alberta Health billing required

Knowledge of WCB billing procedures required

Knowledge of billing software program and an EIS database an asset

Knowledge of university core business systems and a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

Accuracy, attention to detail and excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential

Ability to function independently and a member of a team
