Ministry of Education and Childcare

The Ministry is responsible for: developing and evaluating curriculum; teacher development and certification; supporting students with diverse learning needs; funding and supporting school boards; First Nations, Métis and Inuit and Francophone education; and overseeing basic education policy and regulations.

Role Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager, Resource Authorization, the Resource Analyst leads complex resource analysis projects and works collaboratively with their team to support the operations and overall functioning of the branch to support the implementation of the Kindergarten to Grade 12 (K-12) provincial curriculum The Resource Analyst plays a central role in supporting the development, review, and authorization of high-quality learning and teaching resources aligned with Alberta’s K–12 curriculum. This position works closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure resources meet educational standards and reflect diverse perspectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the identification, evaluation, and authorization of K–12 learning resources.
Collaborate with curriculum teams, educators, and community partners to ensure alignment and relevance.
Manage stakeholder engagement activities and incorporate feedback into resource planning.
Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to professional learning for resource reviewers.
Promote inclusive resource development, integrating Francophone and Indigenous perspectives.
Respond to information requests and contribute to strategic planning, analysis, and reporting.

Qualifications:

Strong research, analytical, and project management skills.
Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
Familiarity with curriculum development and educational resource standards.
Experience working with diverse communities and educational stakeholders.

This position uses expertise and creativity to problem solve how learning and teaching resources are developed, maintained, and applied for use with the K-12 curriculum system. Ongoing
assessment and assurance practices are required.

Leads the collaborative development of learning and teaching resources. This position will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to create resources that can be utilized by a
diverse audience.

Agility
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and timelines to meet project deliverables. Modeling positivity and optimism is critical to keep teams motivated and engaged. Diverse partners across
provincial school authorities have unique resource needs, which will be supported; not all needs will be met by the province. A solution to best serve students across the province will need
to be developed and be agile enough to change as relevant technology, program policy, and jurisdictional needs change, always with an eye for continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Master's Degree in a related field plus five years related experience or equivalent as described below.
Equivalency: Bachelor's Degree in a related field plus seven years of related experience.

The successful candidate must have a valid Alberta Permanent Professional Certificate in teaching.

Desirable skills and assets

Strong project management and organizational skills, with experience managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
Knowledge of Alberta’s K–12 education system and relevant legislation (e.g., Education Act).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and with external stakeholders.
Proficient in research, data analysis, and presenting findings to diverse audiences.
Skilled in problem solving, decision-making, and applying sound judgment.
High proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams) and other tools such as Adobe Acrobat Pro.
Bilingualism in English and French.
A master’s degree in a related field.
Teaching experience in the Alberta K–12 context.

This is a one (1) full-time permanent position, working 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday based in Edmonton.

Parking is not provided for this position.
