About the Role:
Currently, Technica is seeking a motivated individual to join our growing team as a Business Analyst reporting to the Senior Data Analyst based out of our Sudbury Office. This is a hands-on role for someone early in their career who wants to build real tools that support a live mining business. You will work across our data, estimating, and operations teams to develop and maintain internal applications, automate manual workflows, and turn raw data into reporting that the business relies on every day. It is an opportunity to learn quickly, take ownership of meaningful work, and grow alongside an experienced team that values doing things properly.
The key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Build, test, and maintain internal Python and SQL-based tools that support data analysis, reporting, and day-to-day operations
- Conduct product testing on business system releases and updates validating new features, identifying issues before they reach end users, and documenting results so fixes can be actioned
- Support quality assurance across our internal business systems, helping to shape a practical testing approach as the function grows
- Develop and maintain reports using Crystal Reports, ensuring the business has accurate, well-structured outputs from its systems
- Automate repetitive manual processes data cleaning, file handling, and report generation
- Work with data from multiple sources, including spreadsheets, SQL databases, and Microsoft / Power Platform systems, to produce accurate, usable outputs
- Use modern AI tools to accelerate development, testing, and problem-solving, applying them thoughtfully and learning their strengths and limits
- Troubleshoot issues, gather requirements directly from end users, and iterate on solutions based on their feedback
Qualifications:
- A college diploma, university degree, or equivalent practical experience in computer science, software development, data analytics, or a related field
- 2-5 years of experience; recent graduates are encouraged to apply
- Working knowledge of Python and SQL, with a genuine interest in data and automation
- Exposure to Crystal Reports, or a willingness to learn it quickly, is an asset
- Exposure to the Microsoft / Power Platform ecosystem is an asset
- Detail oriented and a methodical approach to testing able to spot what's wrong, reproduce it, and describe it clearly
- Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn, ask questions, and take feedback
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work as part of a collaborative team
- Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset
