What You'll Do
- Design, develop, and maintain MATLAB-based automated test systems.
- Analyze product and system requirements, develop comprehensive test plans, and maintain clear traceability from requirements through test cases to results.
- Develop and execute functional, regression, failover, soak, and performance tests.
- Integrate and control RF and electronic test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators, power supplies, attenuators, and power meters.
- Automate communication with gateways, sensors, embedded systems, and supporting services through appropriate interfaces and protocols.
- Diagnose failures across application software, test scripts, instruments, fixtures, networks, and devices under test.
- Deploy, upgrade, and support test systems used in engineering laboratories and production environments.
- Improve test reporting and analyze results to identify defects, recurring failures, and opportunities for better coverage.
- Identify opportunities to reduce test time and cost while improving reliability, maintainability, and repeatability.
- Help define the architecture, technical priorities, and long-term direction of the test automation platform.
- Champion practical software engineering practices, including source control, issue and defect tracking, code review, testable design, change management, and release processes.
- Establish maintainable coding and automation standards while improving technical documentation and knowledge sharing.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other team members, building consensus and leading improvements through collaboration and example.
What You Bring
- A bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- At least three years of experience in test automation, hardware/software integration, QA engineering, or a closely related role.
- Strong MATLAB programming skills, including experience developing, maintaining, and debugging automation software.
- Hands-on experience testing hardware in an industry, research, or advanced laboratory environment.
- Experience designing structured, repeatable tests and translating technical requirements into test cases and measurable results.
- Strong understanding of software development practices such as source control, issue tracking, code review, automated testing, and controlled releases.
- Experience influencing technical direction, improving development processes, or leading engineering initiatives without relying on formal authority.
- Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills across both hardware and software.
- Ability to work independently, manage technical priorities, and carry improvements from initial investigation through deployment and support.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with RF or wireless products and instruments, including SCPI- or VISA-controlled equipment.
- Experience with Python scripting or Python-based test frameworks.
- Comfortable working in Linux environments and writing shell scripts.
- Experience with MySQL or other relational databases and automated test-result analysis.
- Familiarity with serial/USB communication, Ethernet, SSH, TCP/IP, REST APIs, SNMP, or Modbus.
- Experience with embedded Linux, IoT devices, LoRaWAN, cellular technologies, or networking products.
- Experience implementing continuous-integration pipelines, automated quality checks, or release tooling.
- Experience with manufacturing test, hardware-in-the-loop systems, test fixtures, instrument simulation, or fault injection.
