The Martensville Childcare Centre Manager is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and management of a YMCA licensed childcare centre, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, developmentally appropriate programs in accordance with YMCA values, Ministry of Education regulations, and the YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum.
Reporting to the Childcare Director, the Martensville Childcare Centre Manager provides leadership to staff, ensures compliance with licensing standards, and fosters an inclusive, nurturing environment that supports each child’s growth and development. This position requires scheduling flexibility to meet operational needs, including occasional early morning, evening, or weekend work.
The Martensville Childcare Centre Manager plays a key role in ensuring that all safety, quality, and reporting requirements are met, while fostering strong relationships with families, staff, and community partners.
Leadership and Program Quality

Oversee daily operations of the childcare centre, ensuring high-quality programming and a safe, welcoming environment.

Support and guide educators in implementing the YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum and developmentally appropriate practices.

Ensure all programs meet and exceed licensing requirements under The Child Care Act, 2014 and The Child Care Regulations, 2015.

Foster a positive, collaborative workplace culture that supports continuous improvement and professional growth.

Conduct regular program observations and provide coaching and feedback to educators to strengthen curriculum delivery and engagement.
Staffing and Human Resource Support

Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise staff to ensure appropriate ratios and coverage are maintained at all times.

Conduct regular staff meetings, performance discussions, and development planning in collaboration with the Childcare Director.

Ensure consistent and transparent application of YMCA human resource and childcare policies and procedures.

Support staff development through mentoring, ongoing training, and recognition of accomplishments.

Work in ratio as required to maintain staffing coverage and operational stability.
Licensing, Health, and Safety Compliance

Ensure compliance with all Ministry of Education licensing standards and YMCA policies.

Maintain accurate documentation and reporting related to licensing, attendance, incidents, and safety checks.

Monitor and maintain safe indoor and outdoor environments for children, staff, and families.

Demonstrate safe practices, act promptly on health and safety concerns, and manage emergency situations following YMCA procedures.

Support the Childcare Director during licensing visits and inspections.
Family and Community Engagement

Establish and maintain positive, professional relationships with families through open and effective communication.

Respond to parent inquiries, concerns, and feedback in a timely and supportive manner.

Promote family involvement in the centre’s activities and foster a sense of belonging and community.

Represent the YMCA positively within the community and build partnerships that enhance the centre’s reputation and program quality.
Administration and Operations

Manage enrolment, waitlists, and attendance in collaboration with the administrative team.

Monitor and maintain inventory, supplies, and facility cleanliness.

Assist with budgeting, expense tracking, and revenue monitoring as required.

Ensure all reporting, documentation, and records are accurate and up to date.

Participate in Association-wide meetings, initiatives, and training sessions as required.

Early Childhood Educator Level III Certification is required; however, candidates with Level II Certification who are actively working toward Level III Certification may be considered.

Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in a licensed childcare setting, including supervisory or leadership responsibilities.

Strong knowledge of the Saskatchewan Child Care Regulations and YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum.

Completion of the YMCA Playing to Learn Championship Program is an asset.

Clear communicator with excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

Proficient computer skills and comfort with administrative systems.

Current First Aid and CPR certification.

Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation.
