Specialty Team Coordinator
Location: Vancouver, BC
Compensation: $19.00 to $38.00 per hour, depending on skills and experience
Reports to: Assistant General Manager and General Manager
The role of Specialty Team Coordinator will support, lead, and direct members of VAERC’s specialty teams professionally and kindly while recognizing the responsibilities involved in responding to client and co-worker questions. The Specialty Team Coordinator will also work closely with the hospital’s Leadership team to promote a positive hospital image and continuously work towards the betterment of the whole hospital.
Leadership duties:
Direct involvement in onboarding, orientation and training for new VTAs/RVTs in all Specialty depts. Provides clear training objectives and timelines for acquiring skills.
Assistance with organization, leadership and roll-out of hospital-wide initiatives
Participates in the development of VAERC Standards of Care/SOPs
Participates in the development of VAERC Technical Training Manual
Creates an inspiring team environment and models a culture of open communication
Provides positive feedback and associate recognition frequently, in person or via Recognize App
Assists with identifying performance improvement opportunities and provides support/training/skill development
When schedule permits, attends recruitment sessions at local educational institutions to discuss student opportunities at VAERC
Assists with maintaining hospital safety standards and bringing concerns forward to the Health & Safety Committee
Ensures monthly/quarterly Specialty team meetings are scheduled and carried out on time
Submit a weekly in-person or written update to senior leadership to address progress or needs to the ER team
Administrative duties:
Produces Specialty RVT & VTA schedules for all Specialty departments with advance notice. Ensures there is adequate coverage for time off requests. Works closely with ER RVT/VTA schedulers to ensure adequate coverage.
With GM/AGM support, assist with candidate screening and interviewing via Workday job requisitions.
Participates in hospital errands as needed
Follows VCA Canada policies and procedures as set out in the VCA Employee Manuals.

Job Specifications:
Completion of an accredited veterinary technician program and must possess RVT status in good standing with BCVTA or must possess Specialty VTA status in good standing with VAERC
Must be able to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.
Excellent communication, inter-personal and problem-solving skills.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, Outlook, Woofware, Instinct
Read/follow MSDS sheets and adhere to Health & Safety guidelines for hazardous materials and radiation safety
Display tact, diplomacy and complete confidentiality with colleagues, clients and fellow leaders
Be flexible in attitude and work habits
