As the College continues to strengthen healthcare education and advance its commitment to Indigenization, this position combines teaching responsibilities with clinical placement coordination and leadership, creating a unique opportunity for an experienced psychiatric nursing professional to influence both student learning and clinical education delivery. Working closely with healthcare partners and clinical placement providers, the Instructor & Clinical Lead plays a key role in ensuring students gain the hands-on experience, skills, and confidence needed to succeed as future psychiatric nursing professionals.
Role Summary:
Reporting to the Senior Health Care Coordinator (SHCC) and in cooperation with the Program Lead, the Psychiatric Nursing Instructor and Clinical Lead is responsible for planning, scheduling and coordinating the delivery of clinical placements and core clinical instruction in year 1 or year 2 of the program as assigned in alignment with the established learning objectives and outcomes, while operationalizing the North West College Indigenization charter. The position is also responsible for instructing within a designated teaching assignment, promoting the academic success and personal growth of students.

Key Responsibilities:
- Instruction & Curriculum Delivery: Deliver classroom, lab, and clinical instruction in alignment with Saskatchewan Polytechnic curriculum requirements, learning outcomes, and adult education principles.
- Clinical Placement Coordination: Plan, schedule, and coordinate clinical placements and teaching assignments to support program objectives and student learning outcomes.
- Stakeholder & Partnership Management: Collaborate with the Saskatchewan Health Authority, Learner Placement Unit, clinical partners, and other stakeholders to secure and maintain high-quality clinical learning opportunities.
- Clinical Program Leadership: Serve as the primary contact for clinical instructors, providing support and coordination to ensure effective delivery of clinical education experiences.
- Program Quality & Compliance: Monitor program quality and support alignment with curriculum standards, adult education principles, and College policies and procedures.
- Student Success and Program Support: Coordinate clinical placement requirements, support student documentation processes, and contribute to program operations and continuous improvement initiatives.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Education & Professional Registration: Undergraduate degree in Nursing and approval from Saskatchewan Polytechnic to teach in the program. Preference will be given to candidates registered or eligible for registration with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRPNS) or the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS). A relevant master’s degree is considered an asset. Candidates who demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional and educational development will also be considered.
- Clinical & Instructional Experience: Minimum two years of recent and relevant experience in psychiatric nursing or instruction. Administrative experience is considered an asset.
- Adult Education Expertise: Knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional methodologies, curriculum delivery, student assessment, and evaluation practices.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Zoom, Outlook, learning management systems, and other educational technologies, with the ability to adapt to evolving systems and tools.
- Additional Requirements: Valid Saskatchewan driver’s license, willingness to travel as required, and the ability to obtain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Search.
Compensation:
- Competitive Salary: Total compensation (base plus a market stipend of $15,000) ranging from $82,660.00 – $117,684.00 annually, commensurate with education and experience.
