Summary
The Maintenance Worker plays an important role in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors at St. Elizabeth Village and the retirement home. This position supports daily operations through responsive repairs, preventative maintenance, life safety checks, grounds support, and resident-focused service.

Responsibilities
- Building Maintenance and Repairs: Complete general maintenance, repairs, and inspections across buildings, homes, common areas, and facilities, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, drywall, painting, tile, mechanical, locks, blinds, and related repairs.
- Life Safety and Compliance: Conduct daily checks of fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, call bell systems, control panels, electric locks, boilers, water temperatures, and room temperatures, and promptly record or report concerns.
- Work Orders and Documentation: Access, prioritize, update, and close work orders through the mobile work order system, maintaining accurate records of completed work, inspections, equipment use, and special instructions.
- Preventative Maintenance: Perform preventative maintenance on tools, equipment, systems, and building assets, ensuring all equipment is used, stored, and secured safely.
- Grounds and Exterior Support: Support landscaping, snow removal, eavestrough cleaning, exterior home maintenance, debris removal, equipment use, and overall outdoor cleanliness.
- Resident Service and Issue Response: Respond to resident concerns, inspect company equipment, complete repairs with minimal disruption, and escalate specialist repair needs to the Resident Services Manager.
- Safety, Cleanliness, and Hazard Reporting: Maintain safe, clean buildings and grounds by identifying hazards, correcting issues where possible, and reporting concerns through the appropriate process.
- Waste Management: Collect waste, support proper waste handling procedures, maintain restricted access to waste areas where required, and assist with cost-conscious waste control.
- Emergency and On-Call Support: Provide phone or in-person on-call support during emergencies, urgent maintenance needs, or operational disruptions as required.
- Training and Team Support: Participate in required training, Health and Safety meetings, and operational meetings, and support new employee orientation related to emergency and evacuation procedures.
Requirements
- Current Vulnerable Sector Police Screening
- Valid G driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
Working Conditions
- Hours of work include multiple shifts, including days and afternoons.
- Ability to sit or stand for up to eight hours per day.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs independently.
- Ability to climb ladders and stairs, work from heights, and operate basic mechanical tools, hand tools, and equipment.
- Availability to provide on-call support as required.
