About the role:
We are seeking a detail-orientated Finance Assistant to join our finance team. The Finance Assistant supports the accuracy and reliability of Horizon Lab’s financial operations by collecting, classifying, and recording day‑to‑day accounting transactions. This role exists to ensure financial records, pooling reports, statutory remittances, and administrative processes are completed accurately and on time, supporting compliance and operational continuity. The position also provides office administrative support and backup for DFM accounting functions as required.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Process invoices, purchase orders, and payments
· Reconcile accounts, bank statements, and credit card transactions
· Assist with month end/year end duties including government remittances, and journal entries
· Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records
· Ensure compliance with internal policies and financial regulations
· Communicate with vendors, customers and internal departments regarding financial matters
· Assist with milk invoicing and producer milk payments
· Provide support to office administrative duties
Qualifications
· 1 year experience in a similar role is preferred but not required
· Diploma or certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution in Finance, Accounting, or are enrolled in year one of a business administration program with accounting classes would be considered
· Basic knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and basic financial accounting practices
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy in processing financial transactions and records
· Effective organizational, planning, and time‑management skills to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
· Demonstrated problem‑solving ability and sound judgment in day‑to‑day accounting activities
· Strong communication, teamwork, and customer service skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
· Confidence with computerized accounting systems and office technology, combined with a commitment to continuous learning and skill

Pay: $39,375.00-$44,028.00 per year
