The Role
Based out of our Markham, Ontario office, you will join our dynamic technology team. In this role, you will act as both a hands-on developer and a project/team lead within a small, collaborative environment. You will display strong leadership by monitoring team progress, providing technical guidance, and driving rigorous testing and QA processes. The ideal candidate thrives on complex projects and is comfortable working across multiple modern technology stacks and cloud environments to support our core business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Architecture & Development: Lead the design and development of robust web applications, specialized systems, and scalable software using JavaScript, Java, C#, Python, Kotlin, C/C++, and VBA.
- Database Optimization: Develop and optimize database systems utilizing SQL (including DB2, MySQL, and MS SQL Server) to ensure high performance, data integrity, and security.
- API & Integration: Build and maintain high-performing RESTful APIs to facilitate seamless integration across enterprise platforms and services.
- Process Improvement: Drive technical design enhancements, improve source code control/management, and refine release and deployment workflows.
- Testing & QA: Establish rigorous testing and QA processes, ensuring software meets functional requirements, aligns with technical architecture, and supports future upgrades.
- Team Leadership & Agile Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams using Agile methodologies; mentor junior developers to foster a culture of continuous learning.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: 5–10 years of progressive and proven experience in full-stack web development, application development, or software engineering.
- Migration Expertise: Proven experience with technology migrations in multi-technology, heavy-data, and high-performance mission-critical environments.
- Technical Stack: * Strong proficiency in programming languages (JavaScript, Java, Python, Kotlin, C#) and frameworks (Spring Boot, Ruby on Rails, .NET).
- Front-end expertise in HTML5, CSS3, Angular, and JavaScript frameworks.
- Experience with XML, XSLT, XSL-FO, Apache FOP, Open Telemetry, and automated testing tools.
- Cloud & DevOps: Familiarity with cloud services (GCP, AWS, Azure) and version control tools (Git, GitHub, SVN).
- Soft Skills: Exceptional problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills, and natural leadership/mentorship qualities.
Nice-to-Have / Preferred Technical Skills
- Working knowledge of EDI and API protocols for Enterprise Application Integration and Supply Chain Automation.
- Working knowledge of the Business Basic language (specifically the ProvideX /PVX Plus variation).
