Full job description

Job Summary

The Process Development Engineer/Scheduler will be responsible for bridging Customer Service and Sales to Operations by identifying processes for quotes and Traveller/WO preparation, as well as managing a production schedule that satisfies customer demand.

Job Responsibilities

Responsible for the creation of travellers used to manufacture products on the production floor.
Verify that all information, details, tolerances, and documents are approved prior to starting the traveller/manufacturing process.
Verify that high-value jobs have drawing approval from the customer.
Review customer POs, quotes, and acknowledgments prior to preparing travellers to ensure all requirements are understood and documented.
Review similar jobs and customers to identify opportunities for improvements, synergies, or past concerns.
Manage any special requirements, such as, but not limited to, equipment rental and WPS creation, and ensure that the most cost-effective means are used.
Track internal process-related KPIs and maintain PDCA for each manufacturing step.
Drive process improvements and optimization.
Assist in lead-time quoting based on shop loading. Verify hours available when jobs are quoted and commit to expedites when requested by customers.
Build a production schedule based on the hours needed for the job to be completed in the Kingston and Etobicoke facilities. Review orders and compare them to the expected completion date.
Maintain delivery commitments by monitoring material arrival, the number of workers, customer delay escalation, and scheduling day-to-day production plans.
Develop a reaction plan with the Plant Manager in the event of delays in the target delivery time.
Act as the main point of contact for Customer Service by interacting with customers, entering orders, and analyzing costs.
Completes all other tasks as required.

Education

University bachelors degree in science or technology is an asset.

Experience

Process development and manufacturing experience is required.
Metal fabrication experience is an asset.

Job Requirements

Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
Ability to review and understand customer POs, blueprints, and engineering requirements.
Familiarity with steel fabrication and manufacturing operations, including tooling, material handling, and production flow.
Ability to communicate and manage requirements with peers and leadership.
Production capacity planning and scheduling knowledge.
ERP system knowledge.

The use of required safety equipment as described below is a condition of employment and not one of choice. Safety equipment that must be worn on the floor as follows:

Safety boots
Earplugs
Respirator mask (as required)
Helmet

Work Environment

Steel, heat treatment, and coatings industry. Sometimes requires being inside a machine shop or factory-type building. Slightly dirty, noisy, and not uniformly heated.

Pay: $70,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
