Concept Accounting & Advisory is a Kitchener-Waterloo CPA and fractional-CFO firm serving owner-managed businesses across Canada. Real estate is our largest vertical, alongside professional services, medical and veterinary practices, import/export, and franchise operators.
Job Overview
Reporting to the Accounting Manager, you'll own full-cycle accounting and month-end close for a portfolio of assigned clients across our verticals. You'll work in a modern, automation-first tech stack and play a real part in building out our processes as we scale.
This is an on-site role based in our Waterloo office, four days per week. Candidates should be located within a reasonable daily commute of Waterloo.
Duties
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date books and complete month-end and year-end close for assigned clients
- Reconcile bank, credit card, loan, and balance sheet accounts
- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and adjustments
- Manage AP/AR and maintain fixed asset and supporting schedules
- Prepare financial statements and management reports
- Process payroll and assist with ROEs, T4s, T4As, WSIB, and EHT filings
- Prepare and file GST/HST and other statutory filings
- Communicate directly with clients to resolve queries professionally
- Help improve and document workflows as we scale
Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of full-cycle accounting or bookkeeping experience
- Strong Canadian accounting, payroll, and HST/sales-tax compliance knowledge
- QuickBooks Online proficiency required
- Strong on bank reconciliations, payroll, GST/HST, and month-end procedures
- Able to manage multiple clients and competing deadlines independently
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- CPB designation, or an accounting diploma/degree, an asset
Nice to Have
- 1+ year of T1 and T2 tax preparation experience — a strong asset
- Experience in public accounting or an outsourced/cloud accounting environment
- Experience across multiple client industries (real estate, professional services, healthcare, import/export, or franchise)
- Familiarity with our stack: Dext, Wagepoint, Plooto, TaxDome, Fathom, Profile/Taxprep
