IT Systems Administrator
The person who keeps every system, tool, and connection running at Hycroft.
Location: Surrey, BC (In-Office)
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Reports To: Principal / Office Manager
Hycroft is looking for a hands-on IT Systems Administrator to own our technology stack from the inside out. You’ll be the person our engineers, designers, and project managers rely on when software needs installing, SharePoint needs updating, dashboards need building, or a new tool needs integrating. If you love solving real problems for real people — and you’re just as comfortable in a server config as you are training a colleague on a new app — this is your role.
About the Role
Hycroft runs a lean, fast-moving team across engineering, project management, and administration — and our work depends on reliable, well-maintained systems. As our first dedicated IT hire, you’ll take full ownership of our internal technology environment: from installing and licensing software to administering our Microsoft 365 and SharePoint ecosystem.
You’ll work directly with discipline leads to support tools like AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Power BI, and BigTime, and help integrate new platforms — including AI tools like Claude — into our daily workflows. This is a broad, high-impact role for someone who thrives when no two days look the same.
What You’ll Do
- Install, configure, and maintain software across the organization, including AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Power BI, BigTime, and Microsoft 365
- Administer and continuously improve our SharePoint environment, including site structure, permissions, document libraries, and user access
- Manage and support AI tool integrations (e.g., Claude, Microsoft Copilot) — including setup, user onboarding, and troubleshooting connections
- Build and maintain Power BI dashboards to support project controls and management reporting
- Coordinate IT procurement, licensing renewals, and vendor relationships for all software and hardware
- Provide day-to-day technical support to staff, troubleshooting hardware, software, and connectivity issues
- Maintain IT documentation including asset inventories, license registers, and system configuration notes
- Identify opportunities to improve internal tools and workflows, and implement solutions with appropriate stakeholder input
What You Bring
- 2–5 years of IT support, systems administration, or similar hands-on IT experience
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft 365 administration — SharePoint, Teams, Outlook, OneDrive, and Azure AD
- Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting engineering or design software (AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or similar)
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards
- Practical hardware knowledge — laptop and workstation procurement, setup, and troubleshooting in a professional office environment
- Solid understanding of software licensing, patch management, and basic network/IT security practices
- Strong communicator — able to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical colleagues
- Authorized to work in Canada
Nice to Have
- Experience integrating or administering AI productivity tools (e.g., Claude, Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT Enterprise)
- Familiarity with BigTime, Primavera, or other project management and time-tracking platforms
- Experience in an engineering, construction, or professional services environment
- Microsoft certifications (MS-900, AZ-900, or similar)
Why Hycroft
- Competitive compensation aligned with your experience and skills
- Comprehensive extended health, dental, and vision benefits
- Hybrid work model with flexibility to balance home and office
- Real opportunities for growth, mentorship, and advancement
- A strong safety culture and a team that genuinely supports each other
- Variety of project work across oil & gas, mining, and industrial sectors
