Full-time | Hybrid flexibility | No book of business required
Build your construction law practice without having to build a book of business.
ATAC LAW is looking for an intermediate associate lawyer to join our growing Construction Law Practice Group.
This role is designed for a lawyer who wants meaningful responsibility, strong client flow, practical mentorship, and a real path for advancement — without the pressure of generating their own clients.
We are a modern, growth-oriented law firm that invests heavily in advertising, intake, systems, and operations. That means our lawyers can focus on what they were trained to do: practise law, serve clients well, move files forward, and become excellent lawyers.
Why this role is different
At ATAC LAW:
- The firm generates the clients
- Business development is not required
- You are rewarded for legal quality, productivity, client service, file management, and leadership
- You can advance without needing to become a traditional rainmaker
- You will work in a practice group with systems, support, and steady client demand
This is an ideal role for a construction lawyer who wants to grow into a senior associate, counsel, practice lead, or future partner-track position based on performance — not personal client origination.
The work
You will work on a range of construction and real estate-related disputes and advisory matters, which include:
- Construction contract disputes
- Builders lien matters
- Delay, deficiency, and payment disputes
- Contractor, subcontractor, owner, and developer claims
- Construction litigation and dispute resolution
- Demand letters, pleadings, applications, negotiations, mediations, and settlements
- Risk management and practical legal advice for construction clients
- Other commercial litigation, including business and partnership disputes
You will have direct client contact, meaningful file responsibility, and the opportunity to develop deep expertise in construction law.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for a lawyer with approximately 3–6 years of call and experience in construction law, commercial litigation, real estate litigation, or a related disputes practice.
The right candidate will be:
- A strong legal writer and analytical thinker
- Comfortable managing litigation files with appropriate supervision
- Practical, organized, and responsive
- Good with clients, including business owners, contractors, developers, and individuals
- Able to move files forward without unnecessary delay
- Interested in construction law as a long-term practice area
- Comfortable working in a performance-oriented but supportive environment
- Motivated by quality work, client service, and professional growth — not by networking and business development
A portable book of business is not required.
Compensation and advancement
We offer a compensation model designed for lawyers who contribute to the firm through excellent legal work, client service, productivity, and leadership.
The expected performance bonus for this role is up to $45,000+, based on productivity, client service, quality of work, file management, and contribution to the practice group
Strong performers will have a clear path toward:
- Senior Associate
- Lead Associate
- Counsel
- Practice Lead
- Non-Equity Partner or Partner-track roles
Advancement at ATAC LAW is not limited to lawyers who bring in their own clients. We value lawyers who help us deliver excellent legal services at scale.
What we offer
- Steady firm-generated client flow
- No business-development requirement
- Direct client contact
- Meaningful construction law files
- Strong mentorship from experienced and available partners
- Hybrid flexibility
- Administrative and intake support
- A modern, systems-driven law firm environment
- Clear performance expectations
- Advancement based on legal ability, client service, productivity, and leadership
- Opportunity to help build and shape a growing construction law practice group
This role may be a strong fit if you are thinking:
- “I want better files and more responsibility.”
- “I like practising law, but I do not want to spend my evenings chasing clients.”
- “I want a firm that has a real client-generation engine.”
- “I want to grow into a senior role without being judged mainly on origination.”
- “I want to help build a serious construction law practice.”
