We are seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer for our Ayr, Ontario location.
HOURS: A Shift: Monday to Thursday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm; Friday 8:00 am - 2:00 pm
REPORTS TO: Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Identify & execute solutions related to process flow within the plant by applying manufacturing engineering principles to improve efficiencies (Pareto, time studies, design experiments, Problem solving tools, Labor Balancing.
- Responsible for performing new and current program feasibility study to determine optimal process and creates machine specification and source safe equipment(s) and safe solution working with cross functional team internal and/or external.
- Responsible for performing capacity, capability & feasibility studies to determine viability of new capital equipment purchases & assist with new product development
- Take an Active role in APQP, helping to develop process flow by applying Lean Manufacturing Principles, PFMEA’s, equipment and tooling specifications
- Responsible for implementation of Corrective Actions & mistake proofing (poke yoke)
- Assist and implement Engineering Changes and Process Changes with cross functional team.
- Develop & maintain BOM's & process routing to ensure accuracy & efficiency
- Perform Layered Process Audits and Standard Work Audits adhering to posted schedule
- Source and Requisition tools, materials for process improvement, spare and use as required.
- Responsible for the creation and replacement of all poke yoke parts.
- Define Part Trial Run (PTR) requirements with cross functional team and complete PTR’s through production
- Adhere to safety protocols and support PSHSR and other safety requirement for equipment/process during new procurement or any changes.
- Complete the Machine buy offs performing all the activities for the buy off.
- Update and maintain tooling drawings using SolidWorks.
- Coordinate/work with outside contractors, ensuring Bend All protocol/policies are met
- Assist the Maintenance department with troubleshooting of Tooling/Processes to fulfill customer demand on time
- Initiates action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities relating to the EMS and ISO14001:2015.
- Champions Continuous Improvement Projects to support corporate targets and EMS Improvements as required
- Attend T2 problem solving daily meetings and provide engineering support to resolve, safety, efficiency, quality issues
- Attend MRB meetings and assist with Disposition of NC Material
- Perform Audits adhering to posted schedule
- Train Personnel on new equipment / processes as required
- Other duties as required; and/or assigned by direct supervisor and manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3-5 years’ experience in a high-volume manufacturer preferably automotive
- Post-Secondary Education in Engineering (mechanical or manufacturing)
- Related Engineering designation an asset (industrial or manufacturing)
- Practical knowledge of manufacturing Quality Management Systems
- Experience with 3D & 2D CAD modeling software to optimize plant &cell layout
- Process knowledge of APQP & PPAP elements and deliverables for manufacturing
- Demonstrated progressive knowledge of the principals of manufacturing understanding process flow & opportunities for improvements
- Practical experience with measuring devices & gauge design (Gauge R&R, gauges)
- Familiar with industry accepted problem solving & failure analysis methodologies (PFMEA, Fishbone, 8D)
- Practical knowledge of ERP systems for purposes of completing & updating BOM
- Knowledge of GD&T with the ability to transfer to each stage of the process flow
- Theoretical knowledge of automation (robotics, PLC) for purposes of monitoring new &existing automation to ensure efficiency
- Experience with metal forming and brazing is an asset.
- Demonstrated progressive experience with Lean Manufacturing (Value Stream and Process Mapping, Work Balancing….. )
