Shift: Night Shift (11:00PM – 7:00AM)
Overview:The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for all aspects of Trophy Foods Quality Programs ensuring they are maintained through monitoring, verification, and auditing functions.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Maintain company’s Quality Management program through monitoring, verification and auditing programs as required.
· Actively participate in the implementation and maintaining of the BRC program.
· Perform operational inspections (inclusive Food safety and Quality) every 2 hours. The inspections include verification of CCPs, and preventive controls.
· Verify records (Quality system checks and inspections, production records, etc.), and investigate any gaps identified.
· Actively manage the product Hold process. Drive dispositioning based on proactive approach.
· Perform task verifications and inspections according to Quality Management program.
· Perform daily chemistry analysis and shelf life testing as per schedule.
· Train employees on: Hygiene policy, GMPs, Sanitation, CCP, Allergens, Operational Inspections, etc..
· Ensure Good Manufacturing Practices are followed by all Employees and enforce GMP’s when necessary in the plant.
· Ensure raw materials, packaging materials, WIP and finished products meet specifications.
· Operate the laboratory equipment and perform regular maintenance as required.
· Investigate any deviations and participate implementing corrective and preventive measures.
· Assist with Internal Audits as per GFSI (BRC/SQF) requirements.
· Participate in root cause analysis and CAPA.
· Perform environmental monitoring testing. Create lab requisition and analyze the reports.
· Adhere to Company health and safety policies/procedures including the wearing of personal protective equipment. Keep a safe, clean and orderly work area.
· Other duties as assigned.
Experience, Qualifications, and Educational Requirements:
· University Degree, College diploma, or Technical School Certificate in the science field (e.g. Food Science, chemistry, microbiology, etc.).
· Minimum 2-3 years of experience in the food industry.
· Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
· Intermediate skill required for Word and Excel.
· GMP & HACCP training required.
· Training in a GFSI Benchmarked food safety standard (BRC preferred) would be an asset.
Physical Effort:
· Regularly walks through the Plant and office areas.
· May be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
· Extended periods of time often exceeding 2 to 3 hours without sitting.
Work Environment:
· Regularly exposed to allergens such as peanuts, tree nuts, sulphites, soya, dairy, egg, gluten and sesame.
· Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions including slippery floors.
· May be exposed to equipment and processing mediums exceeding several hundred degrees Fahrenheit and noise levels exceeding 85 decibels.
· The employee may be required to handle chemicals that require PPEs to be worn including a respiratory PPE.
Sensory Attention:
· Frequent need to give concentrated attention, with one or two senses used in co-ordination.
· Ability to apply common sense to problems involving mathematical skills such as adding, subtracting, multiplication, and dividing and written or oral instructions.
Mental Stress:
· Work and environment are not repetitious/unchanging.
· There is noticeable pressure from deadlines, production quotas, accuracy or similar demands.
