Full job description

Job Description: We are now hiring an experienced CNC Machinist to join our client in the steel industry! The successful candidate will be skilled in operating and programming CNC lathes & milling machines, ensuring high-quality production and exceptional machine performance.

This role requires a strong background in CNC machining, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work independently to meet production goals with minimal oversight.

Job Location: Hamilton, ON

Job Type: Full-time, permanent.

Shift Structure: Day shift – 7:00 am to 3:30 pm (Monday to Friday)

Compensation: $35.00 an hour/$72, 800 annually to start.

Key Responsibilities:

Operate and program CNC lathes and milling machines to produce precision machined components in accordance with engineering drawings and specifications.
Monitor machine operations and optimize machine performance, making adjustments to programs, feeds, and speeds as required.
Ensure precision and quality of machined components by adhering to specified tolerances and quality standards.
Perform first-article inspection and ongoing quality checks using precision measuring tools.
Troubleshoot machining issues and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
Maintain organized records of setups, tooling offsets, and production data.
Follow all safety procedures, quality protocols, and company standards.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Candidates must have proper PPE including safety boots and hearing protection.
Proven experience programming and operating multi-axis lathes, including preferred exposure to Okuma, DMG Mori live-tool lathes, and Swiss lathes.
Experience working with Fanuc CNC controllers or equivalent CNC control systems.
Ability to develop and edit CNC programs effectively, including adjustments during production.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Tenured machinist experience is highly preferred, enabling the ability to hit the ground running in a production environment.
Familiarity with reading blueprints, engineering drawings, and geometric tolerancing (GD&T) is an asset.

Desired Skills:

Previous experience with CAD/CAM software such as Mastercam, Esprit, or similar would be considered a strong asset.
Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling selection, and inspection techniques.
Commitment to continuous improvement and lean manufacturing methodologies.
