About the Role:
Demir Engineering Ltd. is a multidisciplinary engineering and manufacturing firm, delivering solutions for mining, mineral processing, metallurgy, oil & gas, and industrial sectors, by utilizing design, reverse engineering, additive manufacturing, in-house casting, and advanced materials.
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Design Technologist to join our team. This role will focus on developing detailed 3D models and engineering drawings to support mechanical design and industrial projects.
The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in CAD, a solid understanding of engineering drawings and standards, and the ability to work collaboratively with engineers and project teams to translate concepts into practical, buildable designs, physical parts, and assemblies.
Key Responsibilities:
· Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and sketches
· Perform 3D scanning (on-site and in-house) and scan data processing
· Develop 3D CAD models and detailed engineering drawings for mechanical equipment, systems, and components
· Prepare complete drawing packages including layouts, fabrication drawings, GD&T, assemblies, schematics, and BOMs
· Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other technologists
· Review, revise, and optimize designs based on feedback or failure analysis
· Ensure drawings comply with industry standards and internal best practices
· Maintain CAD files, revision control, and documentation
· Support procurement, fabrication, and construction teams
· Assist with Quality Assurance/Control and as-built documentation
Qualifications & Experience:
· Diploma in Engineering Design Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or CAD related field
· 4–8+ years of relevant experience in CAD modelling, drafting, and mechanical design
· Strong proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD, or similar)
· Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents
· Knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and fabrication methods including casting, machining, and welding
· Familiarity with GD&T and drawing standards (ISO, ASME)
· Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
· Ability to work efficiently and independently while taking ownership of deliverables
Nice to Have:
· Experience in casting, industrial, manufacturing, or plant environments
· 3D scanning and data processing abilities
· ASET certification (C.E.T. or eligibility)
· FEA, CFD, or other simulation software
· 3D printing / additive manufacturing experience
· Knowledge of welding procedures and qualifications
· Experience with Quality Assurance and Control processes such as ITPs
· Familiarity with standards such as ASTM, ABSA, CSA, etc.

Work Conditions:
· Based in Edmonton, AB (in office)
· Occasional travel to client sites or suppliers may be required
