Commercial Cabling Technician — Skilled Hands Who Take Pride in the Work
Fusion Cabling Inc. is a Manitoba based, structured cabling and telecom service company serving Winnipeg and rural Manitoba. We test and certify every install to TIA/EIA standards — and we're looking for a technician who already works that way.
This is a hands-on cabling and device-install role, not an IT or helpdesk position. If you've spent the last 2–5 years pulling, dressing, terminating, and certifying commercial cable — and mounting and wiring the devices on the end of those runs — and you take pride in a clean rack and a passing test result, keep reading.
This is an in-person role in Winnipeg, MB. Manitoba residents only.
What You'll Be Doing
- Installing and servicing structured cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, fiber, coax, etc) in commercial environments
- Running pathways, J-hook, conduit, cable tray, and containment to spec
- Terminating, dressing, and cross-connecting copper and fiber in racks and IDFs/MDFs
- Installing, terminating, and servicing low-voltage devices: IP/analog cameras, WAPs, door access hardware, Audio/video, and wireless PtP.
- Patching copper and fiber into active network gear (switches and patch panels) — physical-layer work, not network configuration
- Testing and certifying installs, reading prints and scope, and documenting your work
- Coordinating on active job sites with other trades and PMs
- Diagnosing and repairing faults in existing infrastructure
What We're Looking For
- 2–5 years of hands-on commercial structured cabling experience (this is a hard requirement — residential-only or IT/helpdesk-only backgrounds won't be a fit)
- Confident terminating Cat6/6A and comfortable around fiber
- Hands-on experience installing and troubleshooting low-voltage devices — IP cameras, WAPs, door access, or AV — not just rough-in
- Reads blueprints, prints, and schematics, works to spec, and catches your own mistakes before the tester does
- Valid Class 5 licence, clean abstract, and a reliable vehicle (company vehicle available for the right person)
- Clear criminal record check
- Proper color vision (required for this trade)
- Physically able to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, and work at heights
- Comfortable on both active construction sites and finished office space
- Flexible for the occasional evening, weekend, or out-of-town job
What We Offer
- $24–$36/hr based on real experience and certifications — no wage ceiling for the right person, with a clear path to Lead Tech / Project roles
- Health, dental & vision (after grace period)
- Disability & life insurance
- Overtime, vacation & holiday pay
- Paid certification & education — Working at Heights, fall protection, lift/MEWP tickets, and manufacturer certs on us
- Company-provided attire and specialty tools (bring your basics)
- A team that does the job right and certifies what it installs
Schedule
Typical Monday–Friday, 8:30am–4:30pm. Occasional evenings, weekends, or travel as projects require.
